Duties span a wide variety of tasks, including conceptualizing and organizing stories, crafting engaging narratives, editing copy, and maintaining digital content across website and social media. The coordinator provides support in graphic design, writing, editing and distributing news releases and taking accompanying photographs and video. The Communication Coordinator also helps to maintain digital content across district websites and social media platforms. The position is part of the Communications Team, which collaborates with other District campuses and departments on various communication materials, events and programs.RESPONSIBILITIES:Communicate effectively through a variety of digital and print materials, including developing communication and marketing collateral, graphics, logos, infographics, brochures, and social media assets.Write, edit and review internal and external communication materials with a strategic focus on key messages and intended audiences.Create original storytelling ideas that meet the department’s mission and see them through approval, planning, production, and completion.Plan, coordinate and execute events and special projects.Manage district social media and support campus social media pages.Assist in producing high-quality videos and engaging digital content.Attend pertinent District and community functions and network with community representatives.Maintain a flexible schedule before, during and after a traditional workday.Work collaboratively with the Communications Team, other departments, schools, and outside stakeholders on various campaigns, events and projects to ensure the goals of the district are being met.Perform related duties as may be required.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/CertificationBachelor’s degree in English, communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or communications preferred.Special Knowledge/SkillsAbility to communicate effectively both in person and in writing.Experience with social media management and content creation.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.Capable in creating, writing, sourcing and executing stories, scripts, website and social media posts that meet the district’s objectives and coordinate with cross-channel messaging.Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills.Proficiency with design and publishing software applications (Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Canva).Ability to perform duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum supervision.Able to simplify complex issues, create key messages, and communicate in a method/manner appropriate for target audience.A solid ability to build, develop and maintain partnerships with various groups and organizations throughout the district and community.ExperienceMinimum of three years of professional experience in a communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field.
