Job Responsibilities
Safely drives bus/car/van to transport students to and from home, on field trips and to health care or other facilities as needed. Delivers students to their destination in a safe and timely manner following established routes. Obeys all traffic signals and highway regulations that govern the operation of school buses. Reports any mechanical problems immediately to appropriate personnel. Assist in the behavior management of students; completes or makes sure behavior reports are completed on each student when necessary; ensures that students are picked-up by an authorized party; assures that students are supervised at all times; reports any student problems as well as accomplishments to parents; and assists in assuring all luggage is properly delivered. Minimum and Additional Requirements
Current and valid CDL, School Bus Certificate and DOT Physical. Requires an acceptable 10 year driving history, under State Fleet Management (SFM) and SC Department of Education-Transportation (SCDOE-T) guidelines and policies. Experience in the operation or maintenance of motorized vehicles. Must maintain a valid S.C. Commercial Driver License (CDL) with proper endorsements for school bus operation and current D.O.T. Health Card. Must maintain a good driving record with no more than 4 current points for violations. Will be required to successfully complete Defensive Driving Course (DDC) to comply with State Fleet Management regulations for driving a state vehicle. Must demonstrate the ability to work with clients who are deaf, blind and multi-sensory disabled. Overnight travel as well as weekend work will be required, depending on the bus route assignments. This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement. Additional Comments
If selected for an interview you must provide verification of your highest level of education (e.i., copy of BA Degree, high school diploma, college transcripts) and if applicable, licensure and/or certification (e.i., nursing licensure, teacher licensure, bus driving certification).
