DescriptionBecome part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 diverse employees, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve.Summary:The System Director for Coastal Outreach is responsible for successfully implementing UNC Health's affiliation agreement with Novant Health, a 25-year agreement supporting the health and well-being of southeast North Carolinians. The System Director provides leadership, coordination, and management of processes and operations to enable effective execution of Affiliation strategic initiatives.Description of Job Responsibilities:Budget Management:

Directs and supports the councils and sub-committees in developing annual operating budgets supporting the affiliation's strategic initiatives. Assesses resource allocation, reviews budget spending, and determines return on investment in strategic initiatives. Leverages data and analytics to create a metrics-based approach to initiative performance management to drive accountability. Prepares annual operating budget presentations for Affiliation Executive Council approval.Business Plan Development:

As new initiatives are identified by councils, leads Execution team in developing business plans to evaluate feasibility and to present to senior leadership. Requires an understanding of clinical finance and also healthcare finance structures.Program Development:

Oversees a portfolio of programs and projects and ensures the affiliation councils' (Research, Clinical, and Academic) initiatives maintain alignment with the evolving affiliation strategy and identified performance measures. Develops and manages framework for issue resolution, risk mitigation, and dashboard reporting to provide a view of progress and assists the Affiliation Executive Council and other Execution Team members in analyzing and managing current and proposed initiatives.Retreat & Meeting Planning & Execution:

Supports the development and execution of an annual retreat by developing retreat agendas, presentation materials, and talking points for the Affiliation Executive Council and Execution Team members. Facilitates Council breakout sessions as needed. Leads the development of AEC presentations and meetings and contributes to the development of Council meetings by providing agenda items and presenting information from AEC and the Execution Team.Program and Project Management:

Supports the primary project management work done by other Execution team members. Helps organize and direct teams to achieve quality, cost, and performance objectives while maintaining the scope of the projects. Identifies milestones and performance expectations and holds individuals and teams accountable to ensure programs and projects are executed effectively, efficiently, and within budget.Leading Change:

Initiates and manages the change process, taking steps to remove barriers or accelerate its pace. Communicates the direction, required performance, and challenges of change to all involved partners. Identifies and enlists the support of key individuals and groups to move the change forward. Obtains and provides resources to implement change initiatives. Serves as a role model by demonstrating a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in affiliation performance.Leading People:

Leads people toward meeting the affiliation's vision, mission, and goals. Provides an inclusive team environment that fosters cooperation and teamwork and supports constructive resolution of conflicts. Treats sensitive or confidential information appropriately. Delegates assignments, clarifies expectations, and holds others accountable for achieving results related to their area of responsibility. Serves as a UNC Health/UNC SOM ambassador to Novant Health, UNC Wilmington, and Cape Fear Community College partners.Results Driven:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline. Master's degree in business administration or healthcare administration preferred.Experience:

Requires 5 (five) years of leadership experience in finance, business plan development, program management, communications, outreach, or similar field. Three (3) years of management experience required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.Strong knowledge & understanding of the healthcare industry, UNC Health and UNC SOM.Strong knowledge of finance and healthcare financing.Successful project delivery track record in a rapidly evolving and complex organizational environment. Ability to translate Affiliation strategy into short-term projects and bring initiatives to successful completion on time and within budget.Demonstrated ability to develop performance measures and monitor, analyze, and report on KPIs to senior executives.Strong analytical, communications, leadership, and change management skills. Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills.Ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships with individuals across the organization. Strong team player who works collaboratively and is equally at ease with employees, peers, and senior executives.Able to manage high levels of complexity in situations where results must be achieved from individuals and functions not under one's direct control.Highly motivated and demonstrates initiative to proactively address problems and develop solutions.
