Integration Mission Systems segment is seeking a creative, problem-solving
Director of Manufacturing.
The successful candidate will be tasked with leading people and structure while aligning the team to meet the needs of the business, championing improvements in cost and quality leveraging standard best practices, as well as formulating and implementing a roadmap for adopting new technology to improve capabilities. The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for directing the Manufacturing Engineering development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, safety, quality, cell efficiencies, Continuous Improvements, Standard Work, and cost objectives. They will prioritize Mfg Engineering projects based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and launch of new equipment of process. In addition, they will plan and administer procedures and budgets as well as make capital & non-capital budgetary recommendations.
The incumbent will be an inspirational, business-orientated leader with a demonstrated track record of developing best-in-class programs and initiatives for large multi-million-dollar global organizations within the manufacturing function. A proven history of effectively partnering with a wide variety of stakeholder groups on manufacturing strategy and execution within a matrixed corporate context is critical. The capability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders is of the utmost value, as well as a past performance of delivering results on behalf of a global organization.
The Director, Manufacturing reports directly to the VP of Operations and leads a small team responsible for the manufacturing efforts for segment.
Essential Functions:
Develop a standard approach for manufacturing governance to drive best in class processes and cost performance.
Identify and implement innovative data collection, analytics, automation, and advanced manufacturing processes across the enterprise.
Monitor site manufacturing performance by defining KPI’s and setting up monthly / quarterly reviews.
Development of next-generation manufacturing concepts and technology roadmap, including new technology benchmarking, evaluation, and deployment to meet the needs of the IMS product portfolio and strategy.
Initiate and promote strategic manufacturing engineering programs and monitor the effectiveness of these programs.
Advocate for continuous improvement and cost reduction with segment leadership.
Define and endorse optimal allocation of capital to maximize productivity gains.
Promote development projects, and innovation initiatives to ensure consistent evaluation and documentation of processes, adequate configuration, and preventative maintenance of systems and equipment, and innovative direction to reduce cost and improve sustainability metrics.
Direct best in class manufacturing processes and performance while achieving best in class cost performance.
Lead the design for the manufacturability process to ensure successful new product launches, partnering with program management, Business development and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
15 years of strong demonstrated experience and knowledge of Manufacturing engineering with a reputation in driving operational excellence and establishing programs, policies, and best practices.
Experience implementing Design for Manufacturing and assembly, automation, simulations, and robotics.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Capable of interacting with and reviewing multi-functional groups and developing management-level reports.
Ability to lead effective corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis.
Experience implementing Manufacturing 4.0 (Big data, Internet of things, Data management, autonomous systems, smart factory).
Acts as a change agent for the business, ensuring innovations and developments are led to successful implementation.
Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills from executive to front line levels, with an ability to collaborate with others as well as motivate and manage a team with excellent consultative, influencing, and conflict management.
Embraces a strategic, proactive approach in supporting business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing, and closing manufacturing issues affecting the business.
Experience working in a DoD environment.
Green Belt/Black Belt or other Six Sigma certification.
