About the Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Home Equity Processing Team Leader. The successful candidate will complete and accurate processing of Equity Reserve Line of Credit, Home Equity Loan, and Consumer applications through the Consumer Loan Origination platform. Interacts with consumer underwriting, co‐workers, and loan officers to ensure application processing is complete and accurate. Interacts with attorneys, title companies, and appraisers to request title work and appraisals needed to complete the processing of loan requests. Reviews and approves title commitment policies and appraisals for compliance with SSB approval requirements per the Consumer Underwriting Guidelines and Regulatory requirements. Adds required stipulations to applications in the Consumer Loan Origination platform, reviews information sent by loan officers and vendors, and satisfies stips when appropriate. Maintains standard turnaround times and ensures each loan complies with established standards, procedures, and policies. Completes all necessary due diligence required to prepare a consumer loan application for documentation and settlement. Moves the application in the Consumer Loan Origination platform to the Documentation team to prepare for settlement. Represents the Bank in an efficient and courteous manner. Reviews and approves complex title commitment policies and trust-related approvals. Assists with the review and revision of procedures performed in the position. Manages the processing portion of the consumer loan pipeline.Supervises the Home Equity Processing team. Responsible for ensuring that the home equity pipeline is flowing smoothly and that all applications are being settled within stated SLAs. Reviews and updates policies and procedures to ensure that they accurately reflect current practices. Provides coaching and training to team members. Collaborates with other departments in the Home Loan division to address, correct and uncover issues or opportunities for process improvements. Works with the Home Equity Operations Manager to execute department’s goals and initiatives.Delivers a remarkable client experience while representing the Bank in an efficient and courteous manner.MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:Process Home Equity Loan and consumer loan applications in an efficient manner while maintaining department guidelines for standard turnaround times and accuracy. Process Small Business Loan Approvals for documentation in an efficient manner while maintaining department guidelines for standard turnaround times and accuracy.Maintains up-to-date processes and procedures.Handles more complex approval, title, and appraisal structures.Review complex legal documents for completeness and accuracy. Works collaboratively with external vendors and internal partners to correct errors discovered during the review process. Documentation may include: deeds of trust, trust agreements, power of attorney, home and vehicle titles, property valuations, tax assessments, flood certificates, title insurance policies, and homeowners insurance policies.Responsible for ensuring compliance with several Federal Regulations by creating, tracking, and disbursing multiple disclosures to applicants throughout the loan origination process.Assists in training new employees, and cross-training opportunities. Manages the processing section of the consumer pipeline.Represents the Bank and the unit in a courteous and professional manner to all contacts in person and by telephone by delivering a remarkable client experience. Answers questions from branch lenders and staff regarding processing of loans. Provide information on a specific loan as requested. Maintains standards for response times.Assists co-workers as needed, during times of peak volume and staff absences.Supervision of Employees: Provides guidance and cross-training as needed. Provides routine coaching, training, and assistance for direct reports to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities to maximize performance and potential. Documents performance and completes performance review forms in a timely manner. Responsible for the training of employees new to the team.Reviews the work done by direct reports to ensure accuracy and completeness. Tracks errors for coaching.Handles the escalation of complaints pertaining to processing applications from clients, vendors, and loan officers then researches the issue to determine the root cause then provides findings and recommendations to manager for action.Responsible for setting the daily priorities of the Processing team.Has ownership of the procedures for the team and updates them as needed.Serves as the vendor liaison for services used by the processing team.Continually looks for opportunities to improve the process through better utilization of technology and systems available.

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESPosition requires 7 to 10 years work experience in lending and a broad knowledge of consumer, home equity loan processing, related legal issues, regulatory and compliance requirements, understanding of title and valuation procedures.Position requires a working understanding of the loan Accounting System and Credit Administration procedures. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as a keyboard, copier, facsimile machine, etc. Experience using word processing and spreadsheet applications required.Consumer lending Regulatory Compliance requirements knowledge is required.Intermediate experience with standard PC-based software to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents as needed for all levels.A high level of problem-solving skills is required in consumer processing and documentation. Situations require operational knowledge of the work and of the unit, which may involve a range of possible solutions of complex nature.Effective interpersonal skills are required to interact with a variety of contacts within the organization. Courtesy and professionalism are required at all times.Work is under minimal supervision, where the work requires independent judgment in the interpretation of existing policies and procedures and the selection of alternative work routines.SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required.WORKING CONDITIONS:Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements. Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions. Compensation Information

At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.
