Gulhati Laboratory – Postdoctoral Fellow Position Cancer Microbiome

A fully funded postdoctoral fellow position is available for a highly motivated candidate in the Gulhati laboratory at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The lab takes anintegrated approach employing a diverse array of experimental models and cutting-edge techniques to conduct mechanistic and translational studies in colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal cancers.

Current projects in the lab focus on:i) the contribution of the microbiome towards cancer progression and therapeutic resistance; ii) signaling pathways that mediate cross-talk between cancer cells and the stromal microenvironment including immune cells and fibroblasts; iii) identification and functional validation of novel genes and pathways driving initiation, metastasis and therapeutic resistance of gastrointestinal cancers.Our overarching goal is to identify new vulnerabilities and novel treatments that can be translated to the clinic.

The postdoctoral fellow will gain researchexperience in the areas of cellular and molecular biology, microbiome, therapeutic resistance, mouse models of cancer and translational research using human biospecimens.Research findings will be published in high impact journals, along with opportunities to present work at national and international meetings.

The selected candidate for this position will have the following attributes:1) Ph.D. training in Cancer biology/Genetics or cell/molecular biology or related discipline2) Experience in microbiome research and cellular/molecular biology techniques.3) Capable of working independently and have excellent communication and writing skills.4) References confirming candidate’s ability to work in an inter-disciplinary, highly collaborative environment and interact with basic scientists, computational biologists, translational researchers and clinicians as part of a NCI designated cancer center.5) Personal factors that will allow a 3–4-year commitment to the research project.

Salary is consistent with NIH guidelines with annual reappointments. J-1 visa sponsorship will be offered, no H-1 visa.
