Michigan Millers is seeking a Claims Intern to join the team in our Lansing office!

This role provides an opportunity to develop and grow real-world insurance skills and knowledge, assist with a variety of projects, and make connections with the Claims team.

Position Summary:

Learn how to research and confirm coverage for all types of property and casualty claims.Learn the importance of claim documentation and data reporting.Learn how to properly investigate a claim using communication and listening skills, witness information, online research tools, medical records, and/or vendor services.Learn how to use your investigation to assess compensability.Learn to read, review, and pay estimates, medical bills, and vendor bills.Learn how to set and modify reserves on a claim.Learn the importance of working closely with underwriters, loss control, insureds, and agents to offer superior customer service.Assist with various projects as assigned.Attend off-site claims-related tasks and events (i.e., inspections, depositions, court appearances, and/or mediations) with the adjusting team.Shadow other positions within the company to learn more about careers within the insurance industry.Requirements

What You Will Need to Succeed:

Completed two years of college preferred.Willingness to help with a variety of tasks from data collection, entry, customer relations, claims resolution, and everything in between.Proven time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task, and establish/meet deadlines.Superior customer serviceProfessional communication skillsAn understanding of technology solutionsExpected on-site in the Lansing office 5 days/week.

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $19.00/hour.
