BASIC FUNCTION
The Regional Sales Manager is a key contributor to the implementation of the company's polymer sales strategy. This regional manager maintains contact with customers (accounts) assigned within a geographic area and is responsible for executing day-to-day sales activities as they apply to those accounts. Direct input into planning and implementing sales strategies along with maintaining industry knowledge to meet planned objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Safety - compliance with all Baystar policies, procedures and applicable regulations
• Commitment - 100% vested in the success of the Baystar, the sales team, and the individuals
• Executing sales plans in support of Baystar's manufacturing competencies
• Close collaboration with other team members, technical service, customer service, credit and other colleagues to achieve sales goals
• Communicate - persuasive verbal and written skills
• Along with National Sales Manager, prepares sales forecasts, budgets, quotas, and other projections as required
• Expands gross profit and sales volume for an assigned territory/region by developing and implementing regional sales strategies
• Keen awareness and support of Baystar's customer and product mix optimization strategy.
• Analyze sales records and trends in relation to objectives and competitive activities
• Conducts sales calls, makes presentations, provides product support, and performs other sales functions as needed for the regional accounts
• Along with National Sales Manager, develops sales and profit margin goals for the assigned region and implements plans for achievement of goals
• Maintains and uses up to date knowledge of product lines, Baystar sales philosophy and policy, Baystar processes and industry conditions to provide innovative support and technical assistance to regional accounts and the Baystar sales team
• Advises management on market trends and competitive activity encountered in the field
• Controls selling expenses to minimize costs as percent of sales
• Performs customer related duties such as recommending appropriate price strategies, holding sales meetings, pursuing major credit problems, etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• 10+ years combined direct sales to industrial customers
• Applicable knowledge and experience of the secondary "channel" sales market.
• Undergraduate degree in applicable discipline; business, marketing, management, chemistry, engineering
• Strong knowledge of the North American PE customer base, including personal familiarity with customers, processing capabilities and end use markets
• Extensive insight into the HDPE competitive landscape, current and future
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Fluency in Microsoft office suite to include Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
• Demonstrated customer relationship building
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
• MBA preferred
• 10 years of relevant experience, including commercial experience with a resin manufacturer
• Active in industry related trade organizations.
PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the incumbent to:
• Follow safety requirements for the role
• Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage
• Ability to travel overnight, via air and road.
• Lift up to 10 pounds
• Walk safely in and around industrial areas
• Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
