with us!Search technology underpins several recent Figma product innovations, such as visual search in the new Figma AI bundle . The Search Platform team aims to accelerate new search feature development by providing a flexible, configurable indexing solution allowing any team to index any content. The team will abstract away search cluster resource creation and management complexity, providing infrastructure-level SLO guarantees and out-of-the-box observability. The team will partner with Figma’s Search Experience team, and various other product teams across Figma, to leverage the search platform to build optimal search experiences.This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.What you'll do at Figma:

Hire, manage, support and develop a team of engineers who design and build scalable services to power Figma’s search platform and infrastructure.Build and execute on a long-term roadmap to evolve and scale Search platform capabilitiesPartner with engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for teams and projects.Establish trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment in partnership with other leaders in the organization.Grow your career in an engaged and creative engineering communityFigma is committed to building an inclusive and diverse team and culture. We’d love to hear from you if you have:

2+ years of experience managing and leading a high output engineering team5+ years experience building and scaling distributed systems as a leader and/or individual contributorStrong expertise in OpenSearch, Elasticsearch, Solr, or other search engine technologies, with experience managing such search clusters at scale to serve production-facing traffic.Experience with designing and managing scalable, high-performance, and reliable search infrastructure. Knowledge of search algorithms, indexing, and query processing.Skills in optimizing search performance and reducing time-to-index latency. Familiarity with indexing and caching strategies, load balancing, and other performance-enhancing techniques.Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high-performing and highly engaged engineering team. Proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and guiding senior engineers.

Pay Transparency DisclosureIf based in Figma’s San Francisco or New York hub offices, this role has the annual base salary range stated below.Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified.

For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 80% and 100% of range.
