Job Summary

This position will have primary responsibilities with UCSF Health’s Community Hospital Division, which includes UCSF Health St. Mary’s Hospital and UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospital. Involves the review and evaluation of healthcare regulatory compliance controls and programs. The Regulatory Specialist develops and implements strategic processes to achieve and sustain regulatory compliance; keeps abreast of regulatory issues, plans for changes and/or integration as new healthcare facilities/affiliations are assumed. Provides education and consultation to hospital and medical staff regarding the integration of compliance regulatory standards with programs and operations. Acts as a channel of communication to identify and rapidly address identified areas of non-compliance. The Regulatory Specialist will ensure issues and concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved. Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the general operation of the compliance program and its related activities.

Department Description

Reporting to the UCSF Health Director of Regulatory Affairs, the Regulatory Specialist supports the functions of the UCSF Health Regulatory Affairs Department in the assessment, measurement, and reporting of ongoing compliance with The Joint Commission’s accreditation standards and other regulatory/licensure requirements. The Regulatory Specialist works in collaboration with managers and leaders across the organization to develop corrective action plans in response to compliance issues, identify educational needs and participate as appropriate in the execution of improvement strategies and educational activities that support a culture of continuous compliance with quality and safety regulations and practices. The Regulatory Specialist is the lead on preparing for Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification surveys including all survey readiness activity.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in clinical or related area.Two or more years of applicable experience working in a clinical setting.Knowledge and familiarity with the methods, tools, and practices involved in achieving and sustaining regulatory/accreditation compliance across multiple healthcare provider types.Expertise and advanced skills in project management, with demonstrated ability to initiate projects and lead teams, prioritize tasks, and direct projects successfully from inception to completion on-task and on schedule.Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with leaders, managers and staff at all levels and across the organization, and with representatives of external regulatory agencies. Skills in coaching and mentoring staff.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey the most complex technical information, education, and instructions clearly and concisely, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, presentations, and educational materials.Highly developed ability to collaborate effectively with leaders, management and staff across departments/functions, serving as an expert resource and providing guidance and direction on optimal strategies and policies for performance improvement and program development.Note: The work location is hybrid, where one can work remotely and will be required to work onsite in San Francisco based on business needs.Preferred Qualifications

One or more years of experience working in a regulatory environment.Registered Nurse, PharmD, RD, PT/OT or other licensed clinical professional degree.About UCSF
