Essential FunctionsIdentify, cultivate and secure new major, planned and principal level gifts.Work to achieve the planned giving unit's fundraising goals and objectives and meet assigned metrics for performance.Must engage in long-term cultivation and stewardship of planned giving prospects/donors.Travel to meet with alumni and friends of the University and be able to discuss planned gift arrangements.Assist donors and their advisors with appropriate language for will and living trust provisions.Draft proposals for gifts to Purdue through trusts, gift annuities, wills, life insurance and life estates.Build and manage portfolio for planned gift prospect maintaining appropriate contact.Support individual college units as assigned with general planned giving activity.Additional Responsibilities

Marketing responsibilities include responding to requests for information and leads generated through marketing materials; may include drafting and editing newsletter articles or other materials as needed.Travel and/or evening and weekend duties are required.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Outstanding interpersonal skills and a communication style that shows a passion for the cause and is professional, down-to-earth, enthusiastic, credible and confident.Natural ability to cultivate and sustain relationships.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Technical expertise and knowledge of planned giving vehicles and methods, tax and charitable gift laws and estate planning.Self-motivated, innovative and ability to work with considerable independence within the context of a team environment and a network of relationships.Position requires the handling of highly sensitive and confidential information and requires an exemplary track record of professionalism, maturity and discretion.Excellent ability to analyze and evaluate situations and make good judgments.Required Education/Experience and Benefits

Bachelor's degree required3-5 years experience in planned giving or a related field (fund development, banking, finance, financial planning, etc.)Experience in securing major and planned gifts preferred.Law degree and/or experience in higher education philanthropy, trusts, estates or tax law beneficial.Benefits Summary for eligible employees:
