POSITION SUMMARY:
Working as a member of the Major Gifts and Individual Giving team, the Associate Director of Planned Giving will be responsible for overseeing all functions of BMC's planned giving program, including, but not limited to: managing a portfolio of planned giving prospects, developing education and engagement strategies for BMC's donor population to consider a planned gift(s), and partnering with Development Communications & Annual Fund teams on mass communication and solicitation pieces as it relates to planned giving. S/he will contribute to the team’s fundraising goals by securing planned and blended gifts as well as providing high-quality support to other frontline staff who need assistance with planned giving opportunities and partnering with them to secure planned gifts from their assigned donors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Lead and oversee BMC’s planned giving program, creating planned giving strategies for individual donors at all levels—including board leaders, major donors, annual donors, online giving, executives, grateful patients, and employees.
Actively manage a portfolio of about 80-100 planned giving donors and prospects; have demonstrated success in closing planned & blended gifts
Identify, cultivate, and solicit planned gifts such as bequests, trusts, life-income gifts, real estate and alternative assets ranging from five to eight figures. Regularly meet, and when possible, exceed set revenue goals and other key metrics
Launch a planned giving (legacy) recognition society, with robust strategies for securing members and building their affinity to support BMC during and beyond their lifetimes.
Partner with other frontline gift officers on planned giving opportunities within their portfolios and collaborate with each individual fundraiser to develop appropriate goals and strategies for select prospects/donors.
Serve a key consult to other frontline gift officers in developing complex planned giving opportunities, advising donors on options, and sharing scenarios to encourage significant planned gifts; involving outside advisors as appropriate and to ensure ethical practices.
Coordinate with Operations to ensure that planned gifts are appropriately booked (present value etc.) and tracked in NXT.
Develop compelling educational materials—in partnership with Communications—to inspire donors on the financial benefits of planned gifts for BMC’s constituents. Regularly partner with the Annual Fund team on solicitations to include planned giving language in various appeals
Collaborate with Finance and General Counsel when appropriate to execute on transactions associated with planned gifts.
Stay up to date on planned giving trends and latest tax implication for various planned gift opportunities
Participate in annual program planning, budgeting, goal setting, progress reports and evaluation.
Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and development work experience required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED :
None required.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 7 years relevant experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Demonstrated success with closing planned gifts, building/maintaining a planned giving program, and a managing a portfolio
Excellent writing and interpersonal communications skills
Proven track record in working within complex programs managing multiple demands, and balance evolving needs.
Proven ability to make decisions, work independently, and as a team player
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters
