Sets up and maintains accounting records for a major section of an accounting system and performs or supervises the review, posting, revising and summarization of fiscal records and statements; compiles data and prepares reports; and performs other related duties as required.

, Finance Division. This position is under the direct supervision of the Accountant V of the Finance Division and is responsible for a full range and variety of claims and duties. Duties include but are not limited to: Audits, issues, and reviews all direct and purchase order claims against the City and County, prepares fund transfers, claim vouchers, purchase orders, and requisitions. Examines claims with supporting documents for accuracy and/or propriety of the invoices and receiving reports; Encumbers funds and processes payments and makes necessary adjustments for discrepancies; Develops, adjusts, maintains, and reviews the department’s accounts for various programs. Ensures that appropriation and expenditure control ledgers are reconciled; Reviews all requests for funds and expenditure to ensure availability of funds and adherence to City and County guidelines. Verifies all expenditures as to classification, code, and distribution to the proper accounts.There are four (4) vacancies with the

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
:Four (4) years of clerical experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in account record keeping work.Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices; office practices and procedures; the ability to maintain fiscal accounts and records; interpret fiscal records and data; interpret laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the work; etc.
Substitution :An Associate degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of clerical experience and up to one year of account record keeping experience.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university will substitute for
ALL
of the required experience.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.Verification Requirement
