Teton Regional Land Trust’s (TRLT) vision is to conserve farms and ranches, fish and wildlife habitat, and scenic open spaces in eastern Idaho for this and future generations. Covering six counties in the Upper Snake River watershed, the Teton Regional Land Trust has worked with private landowners to permanently protect more than 42,000 acres of critical wildlife habitat, working farms, and waterways in eastern Idaho.Summary of Position

TRLT is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as our Director of Engagement. This individual will lead and grow TRLT’s outreach and fundraising efforts to support land acquisition, stewardship, and community engagement and TRLT’s annual operating budget of $1.25M. The successful candidate will be experienced with various aspects of fundraising, be dynamic, detail-oriented, self-directed and dedicated to TRLT’s mission.The Director of Engagement is responsible for creating and executing a long-term fundraising and associated communications plans to advance the organization’s strategic goals, including annual giving, major gifts, foundation grants, corporate support, planned giving and special events.The Director of Engagement supervises the Outreach and Events Coordinator and Development Associate. The Director of Engagement is a full-time, professional position with a competitive salary and benefits.Primary Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising Program Development and Implementation, 65%,

Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to meet TRLT’s mission and goals. This includes:Developing and implementing annual and multi-year fundraising strategies and plans.Building and maintaining donor relationships and ensuring that all donors feel valued and included.Cultivating and stewarding relationships with Board members, development committee, individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other potential funders.Ensuring all donor records are complete and accurate.Expanding major gifts from individuals and corporations through direct/in-person solicitations, events, letters and proposals.Researching and identifying new donors from public and private sectors.Creating a positive, respectful reputation for the organization.Preparing and presenting reports on fundraising activities to ED, staff, committees and Board of Directors.Expanding planned giving program to provide donors with a variety of options including bequests, gifts of securities, real estate, and tangible personal property.Expanding monthly giving program to provide donors with simple and consistent giving options.Ensuring timely and appropriate acknowledgement and reporting of all gifts through various recognition methods including thank you letters and telephone calls.Ensuring that all materials and activities comply with Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices related to fundraising.Building internal fundraising capacity by working with ED to provide fundraising support and guidance to the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.Ensuring the proper fundraising materials, training and direction are available to fulfill their fundraising obligations and responsibilities.Researching and cultivating board member affiliations with donors and prospects.Supervising development staff, providing training opportunities, professional development, and annual performance evaluations.2. Outreach and Communication: 25%

Develop and oversee communications and outreach strategy, including:Working with TRLT Outreach staff to develop a comprehensive annual outreach plan that supports TRLT’s strategic plan, and coordinate and manage all fundraising and outreach events.Working with TRLT Communications staff to develop a comprehensive annual communications plan that supports TRLT’s strategic plan, and to develop and distribute TRLT’s promotional messaging as well as its print and web-based publications.Creating compelling outreach, educational, and fundraising materials.Supervising and guiding Outreach and Communications staff providing training opportunities, professional development, and performance evaluations.3. Grants: 10%

Oversee researching, relationship building, and writing of non-technical grants, including foundation and some non-technical government grants. This includes:Coordinating with conservation staff to maintain current grantor relationships and establish new grant sources including family and corporate foundations and government agencies.Researching and cultivating board members, staff, and community affiliations with grant funders and prospects.This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the role and is not exhaustive. Superb written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills8+ years of experience in sales or fundraising, with a successful track record in meeting ambitious sales or fundraising goals.Experience making six-figure sales/asks.Knowledge of grant or proposal writing and grant/project management.Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.Strong ability to build and maintain personal relationships with a diverse range of supporters at the local, regional level and to engage diverse groups in conservation efforts.Highly collaborative, able to be a contributing member of TRLT’s senior leadership team and local conservation partnerships.Dynamic understanding of marketing, sales, or fundraising principles, including established best practices as well as emerging tactics.Demonstrated talent in the art of creating sales, fundraising, or marketing content, and a sharp eye when editing for exacting accuracy and maximum emotional impact.Experience with the optimization of donor databases and fundraising software to drive progress toward both determining and achieving fundraising goals.Familiarity with wealth research and prospect portfolio design.Comfortable leading a hybrid-work team.Generous benefits package includes:

Two weeks paid vacation (pro-rated) increased to three weeks at one year of employment. Employees increase to four weeks of paid vacation after four years of employment.8 sick days, 7 days of “flex” paid personal leave and 8 paid holidays, and the office is closed from Christmas Eve through New Years Day.Eligibility for a 2-month paid sabbatical after 7 years.Health Insurance and Dental Insurance, Health Savings Account contributions, Basic Term Life and AD&D Insurance.Matching SIMPLE IRA retirement contributions up to 3% net salary.Application Procedure
