Located in St. Paul, Six Points Theater serves the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul as well as audiences from outstate and beyond. The theater is a point of destination, known for bold new work that looks at life through a Jewish lens with provocative, universal stories. Programming includes a season of productions, event offerings that complement the work onstage, and a new play program launching world premieres. Six Points Theater ignites the hearts and minds of people of all cultural backgrounds by producing theater of the highest artistic standards. Rooted in Jewish content, our work explores differences, illuminates commonalities, and fosters a greater understanding among all people. Our audiences are almost equally Jewish and non-Jewish, with board of directors and staff reflecting diversity of the audience. SPT operates under an SPT agreement with Actors' Equity Association.Position SummarySix Points Theater is searching for our managing director. This new position within the organization will oversee business aspects of Six Points Theater with focus on operations and finance, marketing, audience engagement and human resources. In collaboration with the producing artistic director and in partnership with the board of directors, the managing director will share the responsibility for establishing and achieving the strategic priorities of Six Points Theater to advance the mission of the organization. The managing director will report to the producing artistic director.Roles and Responsibilities

OPERATIONS AND FINANCEWork with the producing artistic director to formulate and oversee implementation of the annual operating budget.Negotiate and complete agreements with Actors Equity Association and Society of Directors and Choreographers, theatrical licensing, artists’ contracts, commissioning and new-play work contracts; and City of St. Paul and other rental spaces (office, rehearsals).Monitor cash flow and forecast, project, and adjust budgets.Pay salaries, bills, federal and state withholding, file quarterly federal and state tax forms, MN Department of Economic Security Reports, and file new hire reports.Work with bookkeeper and CPA; ensure completion of work in preparation for annual Financial Statement, 990, W2s and 1099s.Work with board treasurer and prepare financial documents for board meetings.Manage human resource needs including hiring of personnel, and administering personnel policies and benefits.Develop systems and procedures to ensure professional, efficient operations.ARTISTIC SUPPORTWork collaboratively with producing artistic director to establish and work within production budgets.Work with producing artistic director to set parameters for negotiating financial agreements and contracting artists.MARKETING AND AUDIENCE SERVICESOversee and work with manager of communications and audience engagement on annual and short-term marketing plans, public relations, social media, and other communications written pieces.Work in collaboration with producing artistic director, manager of communications and audience engagement, and manager of operations on audience development including individual and group sales and school group work based upon audience data and strategic goals and desired outcomes.Work with manager of operations to ensure high-quality audience and patron services.FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENTWork in collaboration with the producing artistic director and board of directors to delineate and implement plans to support goals of Six Points Theater.Work in collaboration with the producing artistic director to cultivate, nurture and manage relationships with donors and other funders.Work in collaboration with the producing artistic director to identify and cultivate potential new grant opportunities.Work in collaboration with the producing artistic director and contracted grant writer to submit grant applications and reports/evaluations.Lead the board and staff on fundraising events and support producing artistic director programming for such events and initiatives.BOARD RELATIONSCollaborate with the producing artistic director and board of directors to support Six Points Theater’s strategic plans and achievement of goals.In collaboration with the board chair and producing artistic director, develop meeting agendas and prepare materials.Work with designated board committee(s) on projects and activities.Attend Board meetings and support board recruitment and orientation.QualificationsA bachelor’s degree is expected, and the ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in theater or arts administration and comprehensive knowledge and experience in theater or a related field. Demonstrated management and leadership skills will include planning and staff supervision, with proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships and to work collegially and effectively with others; experience in fundraising, including areas of individual giving and institutional grant work; experience with monitoring, managing, and forecasting budgets; and experience in marketing and audience development including knowledge of representative ticketing and donor data software. The ideal candidate will have experience in theater licensing and artists’ contracts, and working with Actor’s Equity Association and the Society of Directors and Choreographers; or work with a labor union. Strong written and oral communication skills, and a commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusion are expected.Please know that we understand that not all candidates will meet all of the requirements of this role.
