Role Summary
The
Director of Corporate Ventures
will spearhead the development and execution of our corporate venture capital strategy, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and managing investments in startups and emerging technologies in line with the MANN+HUMMEL strategic goals. This role is crucial for driving innovation and growth by leveraging external partnerships and investments in strong coordination with the MANN+HUMMEL business units as further outlined below.Main Tasks
Develop and implement the corporate venture strategy aligned with the company's overall strategic goalsIdentify key industry trends, market opportunities, and technological advancements that align with the company's growth objectivesSource, evaluate, and recommend investment opportunities in startups and emerging technologiesConduct due diligence, including market analysis, technology evaluations, financial modelling, and risk assessmentNegotiate and communicate successfully with entrepreneurs, management teams, partners, and other stakeholders, including attorneys, advisors, consultants, and MANN+HUMMEL’s Executive ManagementBuild relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, intermediaries, and executives to stay informed of early and growth companiesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with VCs, Incubators, and Accelerators to create a robust partner pipelineOversee ongoing relationships with portfolio companies to enhance strategic and financial value for both MANN+HUMMEL and the portfolio companiesDevelop, coordinate, and support joint strategic innovation projects between startups and internal business unitsPrepare and present regular reports on investment performance, strategic insights, and recommendations to senior managementAdvise and mentor internal Digital Ventures teamsYour Profile
Education:Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance (MBA preferred)Experience:10+ years' experience working with emerging technologies in B-2-B corporate business development, or strategy5+ years' demonstrated venture capital investing experienceExperience with start-up companies, venture capitalists, commercial partnerships, and incubatorsRequired Skills:Strong understanding of industrial technology and manufacturing trends and challengesExcellent analytical, financial modeling, and due diligence skillsExcellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilitiesAbility to work effectively with global cross-functional teams and senior executivesRequired Travel:Occasional travel required for investment meetings, industry events, site visits to portfolio companies, and MANN+HUMMEL locations both domestically and overseas (globally)Enjoy a supportive and collaborative workplace where innovation thrives. Our team is known for its friendly and engaging atmosphere. The position is based in our Raleigh, NC office for three days a week, with the option to work remotely (from within the Greater Raleigh, NC area) for the remaining two weekdays.
