Under the guidance of the fellowship program preceptor, Fellows provide support for administrative leadership and operational functions in various projects across system services and throughout the continuum of care. Fellows will gain the ability to facilitate, lead and manage cross-functional, complex work streams in a supervised and mentored professional and skill building environment. The Healthcare Administrative Fellow will participate in both administrative and operational functions on a rotating schedule that includes senior leadership, departmental and board meetings. Additionally, the Fellow is considered a part of the leadership team, attending and participating in sessions at the system level and across the entities. The current Fellow is responsible for the recruitment of future Network Interns and Fellows. Specific roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities will be outlined as projects are assigned. At the end of the program, Fellows should have gained an understanding of clinical operations in the hospital and ambulatory environment, as well as had the opportunity to work in areas such as finance, business/network development, performance improvement, human resources, patient safety/quality, physician relations and marketing/communications.Typical Duties:Participates in various projects that are focused on all aspects of work experience such as, quality control, process improvement, strategy, operations, finance, marketing and business development.Contribute to specific project work in and across each of the areas assigned, specifically Administration, Finance, Community Health by preparing/ analyzing/ exchanging information and collaboration with other team members.Research and provide information, including perspectives regarding projects and issues to stimulate new ideas and thinking. Applies practical applications of the academic information learned in the classroom.Attend management team, operations meetings, and other necessary meetings to understand current system initiatives, executive level decision making, and strategic planning.Prepares project update reports. Assist in the preparation of reports, proposals, special projects, budgets, etc. as assigned.Take appropriate steps to further develop as a professional i.e. accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars. Develops of experience and expertise in at least one area of operation.Identify and utilize internal and external support resources with each identified project.Develops and applies competencies in team facilitation, project management, public speaking, and presentations.Communicate in a timely and professional manner at all times.Provide, and be receptive to, feedback in and across projects in a through, professional, and constructive manner.Build a strong skill set regarding healthcare management, administrative, and leadership skills through working with staff, physicians, and network leaders.Seek ways to continuously improve processes and outcomes wherever possible.Balance all work activities, including providing timely updates to program administrators, supporting the success and continuation of the JPS Health Network Fellowship Program.Maintain confidentiality of all JPS and related information while assuring high quality and integrity of work products.Performs all other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Masters level degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Administration, and Public Health, Business or other general healthcare related advanced degree from an accredited college or university (by the time the Fellowship starts).1 plus years applicable healthcare experience, either through internships or other related work, is required.Local travel to duties may be performed at multiple sites.
