San Francisco Waldorf High School seeks an experienced teacher to be its Educational Support Coordinator. The Educational Support Coordinator helps high school students and staff recognize and integrate different learning styles that enable students to benefit from the full rigor and scope of the Waldorf curriculum. The Coordinator will work closely with the Individual Learning Committee (ILC) and the entire faculty in implementing academic accommodations; will be one of the liaisons with parents of students with neurodivergent processing; and will advise and, at times, work directly with these students.The successful candidate will have a vision of the direction education must take in order to speak meaningfully to the children of today. We seek a person with extensive experience teaching, especially upper grades/high school, and extensive experience working with neurodiverse students. We would welcome candidates with state credentials as learning specialists and educational therapists. Excellent organizational and communication skills are a must.SFWS asks all employees to proactively commit to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to create an environment where all members of the community can flourish.This is a full time (1 FTE) exempt position.Start date: August 2024Responsibilities include:Chair the High School Individual Learning Committee to develop policy and processes in support of all students at SFWHS, but in particular neurodivergent studentsMaintain all documentation related to accommodation plans:Write plans, with input from psychoeducational evaluations, parents/guardians, and studentUpdate each plan every year, with input from the studentUpdate plans when there is an recentreevaluationCollaborate with teachers and parents to recommend outside testing, tutoring, or other needed special servicesAttend to documentation, policy production, procedure implementation and legal considerations of ILC work in consultation with the committee, outside consultants and others as neededCoordinate the Peer Tutoring programProvide direct coaching in executive skills and subject-area support for students as determined by need and the ILCLiaise with outside tutors and other resourcesCoordinate student note-takers and ensure that notes are being taken and available on the school portalWork with the Admissions CommitteeApply for accommodations on standardized tests (College Board and ACT), and organize proctoring when necessaryCoordinate and attend meetings with parents and students to further the work of ILCOrganize after-school study hallLiaise with Grade School Educational Support Coordinator to ensure the smooth transition of students from one campus to the nextLiaise with Student Support Directors at other Bay Area independent high schools through BAISLDHelp coordinate 9th grade orientation weekPreview/ proofreadTeacher Letters of Concern before they go out andteachers’ report card comments, 4 x per yearPreviewing the ILC students’ report cardsAdminister and interpret Mindprint screenings for students who are struggling but don’t have a formal diagnosis (3-5 per year, average)Faculty sponsor of the Neurodiversity Affinity GroupCoordinate the Neurodiversity Panel at all-school assembly each springTeach study skills for 9th grade - use of planners, teaching about executive function skillsLiaise with the Grade School Administrative Coordinator to create school plannersOversee the HS ILC budgetSeek out training opportunities that will further your work and educationCan teach up to 20% FTEFulfill faculty duties required of 1 FTE positionQualifications:Bachelor’s degree requiredEducation Specialist Credential preferredGraduate/Specialist degree highly recommendedExperience supporting student with learning differences in an academic setting for at least 3 yearsPreference for candidates with classroom teaching experience, particularly at a Waldorf school, although this should not discourage those without such a background from applyingBenefits and Compensation:This is a full-time (1 FTE) position with full benefits including medical, dental, flexible spending plans, retirement plan (employer contributions after one year of employment), and tuition remission for eligible dependents in our N-12 program.The full 1 FTE annual salary range is $60K - $85K depending on experience.It will be prorated for less than full FTE.Salaries are paid on a 12-month schedule.Physical Requirements and Work Environment:Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including heat and coldRegularly sitting or standing 4-8 hoursFLSA Classification: Faculty; Exempt from overtimeReports to: High School ChairHired by: High School Steering CommitteePlease send resume and letter of interest to jobs@sfwaldorf.org
