Our work depends on a Virtualization Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD.
At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Server & Compute Platform Engineering Services. As a Virtualization Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc.
In this role, a typical day will include:
· Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.
· Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
· Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN.
· Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
· Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations
· Develops system architecture and system design documentation
· Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts
· Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility
What you’ll need:
· Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
· DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
· Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
· 10 years’ of related experience
· Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
· Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking
· Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs
· VMware Certified Professional certification

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
