Business Development Manager

to join our

Bay Area

Overview

Based out of one of our 3 Bay Area regional offices, manages the early identification and qualification of new business opportunities, and develop new project opportunities. Searches out, identifies, and establishes initial contact with targeted leads for new business. Develops client and project related information to allow strategy formulation for a successful marketing and pre-positioning approach. Coordinates follow up and manages relationships with individuals in the industry, clients, and business contacts in pursuing specific project opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities Researches and qualifies new business leads through utilizing the internet and initiating contact with potential clients and elicits information on owner/user, project, selection process and schedule, decision making, etc. Collaborate with Regional Executives and VP, Business Development in developing and executing the annual corporate marketing plan, including the determination of target markets, strategies to penetrate same markets, creation of sales objectives and identification of tasks necessary to achieve the company's sales goals and objectives Conducts sales calls to present the Company's capabilities and interest in a persuasive and credible manner Facilitates and documents the development of prepositioning plans that lead to capturing new work Maintains contact with clients and other referral networks such as architects, engineers and others who can assist in pursuit of new work Develops lead lists for target markets and participate in developing strategy and capturing new work with assigned markets/industries Maintains knowledge of all aspects of construction industry, markets and current trends Attends appropriate community/civic organization events, industry events, and conferences representing Kitchell's marketing, branding and business development efforts Assists in the preparation of proposals and other marketing literature for interviews and presentations Manages responses to requests for proposals and qualifications efforts and interview efforts, as needed Utilizes safe work practices and follows directives, policies and procedures for assisting and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment Establishes and maintains effective and professional relationships with internal clients consistent with company values Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or related field is highly preferred 10 years of position related work experience in business development or related field is required (preferably in the architecture, engineering, and/or construction management industry) Knowledge and Skills

Ability to identify prospects and develop strategies for targeted opportunities is required Extraordinary presentation, oral and written communication skills is required Effective computer skills, including proficient use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software required User skills with Deltek Vision database management software preferred Ability to demonstrate the competencies of achieving results, teamwork and influence is required Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability initiate, build and manage effective interpersonal relationships is required Commitment to the values of Kitchell with attention to honesty and integrity, quality of work, customer satisfaction and flexibility is required Requirements

License and Certifications

Valid California driver's license free from suspensions or restrictions is required

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a general office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the position is moderately active and the employee is required to regularly sit, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 5 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds.

Travel Requirements

Regular travel within the San Francisco Bay Area region with occasional travel for industry specific events and conferences throughout the State.
