The full Pay Grade range is shown for growth and development opportunities within the grade. Salary determination is supported by budget availability and qualifications of the candidate to maintain internal equity. Advertised Rates effective October 1, 2024. Hiring Range: Min-MaxMin $26.93 ($56,022)Mid $32.99 ($68,619)Max $39.05 ($81,215) Eligibility ExperienceHigh School Diploma/GEDMust possess at least one of the following EVT certifications:F3F4F5F6E1E2E3E4Must possess an EVT Level I Fire Apparatus Technician and EVT Level I Ambulance Technician certifications or applicable manufacturer training and certifications Or, the ability to obtain within the first 18 months of employmentMust possess "Official State of Texas Vehicle Inspector" Or, the ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employmentMust possess Mobile A/C certification, MACS, or equivalentMust possess a Class A or B CDL Texas Driver's License with a good driving recordTwo years of experience in automotive and/or heavy truck repair Two years of experience in heavy equipment and/or Fire Apparatus repair Small engine repair experience is preferredKnowledge/Skillsets/AbilitiesAbility to be On-Call 24 hours a day for a seven-day period on a rotating scheduleAbility to provide tools and toolboxes as required of a Fleet EVT TechnicianAbility to maintain License and certifications during the term of employmentMust be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionKnowledge of NFPA standards and regulations for emergency vehicle maintenance and repairMust have knowledge of repairs and troubleshooting of automotive, heavy truck, and construction equipmentAbility to read, understand and comprehend owners' manuals, repairs manuals, schematics, and drawings to repair and maintain the fleet in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair proceduresKnowledge of fluids and components used in the repair and servicing of vehicles and equipmentKnowledge of proper disposal procedures for used oils, chemicals, and other hazardous materialsAbility to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writingAbility to work effectively in a team environment, contribute as a team member, and treat others with respectAbility to prioritize, monitor, and organize work assignments efficientlyAbility to follow verbal and written instructions to complete tasks as assignedAbility to work after normal business hours, weekends, and weekdays, as neededSkill in operating shop tools and equipment while following safety practices and standard operating proceduresSkilled in the use of computers, maintenance software, and other office equipmentSkill in proactively identifying and resolving issues, consistently making sound decisions, and correctly executing policy processes and procedures This is Coppell Leadership RelationshipThe Fleet Services Emergency Vehicle Technician reports directly to the Fleet Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Director of Public Works.
