Paragon is seeking a Buyer to join our team. The Buyer is responsible for evaluating purchase requisitions and purchasing materials with approved vendors.Responsibilities:Evaluate purchase requisitions and supplier quotes to ensure materials, items and services are purchased from suppliers that are qualified and approved for their respective scope as outlined on approved vendor listSubmit request for quotes for materials and choose commercial suppliers that meet the vendor selection requirements for the purchased goodsNegotiate pricing for all non- standard purchasesEvaluate inventory levels to determine stock levels prior to placing ordersOptimize freight and material costs by evaluating ordering methodsCreate purchase orders that are in alignment with the material requirements, budget and project scheduleEnsure all required documentation (drawings, technical specifications, test plans, etc.) are passed down to the supplierInteract with suppliers to follow up on delivery status and expedite/escalate as necessaryCollaborate with Receiving to insure materials are properly prioritized and received into ERP systemResolve material and documentation issues with suppliers so Receiving can complete material receiptsReconcile purchase orders with supplier invoices and partner with Accounts Payable for payment processingProcess returns and work with supplier to replace, repair/rework discrepant material in an expedited manner and follow up on creditsMaintain ERP inventory system to ensure accuracy of item part numbers and descriptionsUpdate procurement tasks in project management systemEvaluate supplier performance by tracking on time deliveries and deficiency reportsLead supplier meetings as necessary to support customers, project team members, and managementAttend kick-off and material planning meetings for complex projects as requiredCapable of working on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexityAbility to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement principles and techniques
Qualifications and Requirements
:Familiar with DOD and DOE requirements (ITAR, NN801, NN801, DPAS, etc.)2 or more years experience in manufacturing/industrial environment with an understanding of manufacturing processesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAdept at working with a sense of urgency and meeting deadlinesDetail oriented, analytical, organized, and adaptable to changing prioritiesHigh quality of work with minimal errorsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, project management systemsEducation Requirements - Minimum of associates degree with 3 years experience or 5 years experience in performing procurement functionsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, or other legally protected status.
