Variable shifts: 8-10 or 12 hours plus a couple midnight shifts per yearGENERAL SUMMARY:

Administers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during surgical procedures, obstetrical deliveries, or other medical and dental procedures. Potentially administers anesthesia to all ages and A.S.A. classes of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Provides airway management services as needed throughout the hospital.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides leadership in the professional practice setting.Supports and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.Identifies patient problems and collaborates with the Anesthesia/Surgeon/Perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions.Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate perioperative care.Promotes a healthy work environment through professional communication standards and positive problem resolution.SERVICE:Conducts appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments and documents findings.In collaboration with the anesthesiologist, determines the appropriate anesthetic plan of management and manages all aspects of anesthesia care.Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non-emergent, and resuscitation situations throughout the hospital.Anticipates and exceeds patients and customers' expectations.Identifies services and care improvement ideas and acts on them to create excellent customer experiences.Demonstrates personal accountability for upholding team standards and adhering to Henry Ford Health policies and procedures.Recognizes the unique contributions of all health care team members to the patient experience.Performs other related duties as assigned.QUALITY AND SAFETY:Independently uses and documents the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate individualized, safe, age-specific care for all patients.Incorporates safe practices and evidence-based practices into daily nursing care.Maintains compliance with regulatory standards regarding practice, environment, and documentation.Directs and delegates nursing care based on patient acuity and staff competency.Participates in quality improvement/patient safety initiatives and programs.GROWTH:Participates in professional development and continuous learning.Contributes to maintaining and improving a respectful workplace environment.Maintains knowledge and skills in appropriate technology.RESEARCH AND EDUCATION:Provides education for staff, colleagues, patients, and/or families.Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in the area of specialty.Integrates research findings into practice.COMMUNITY:Participates in community activities and/or professional organizations.Represents Henry Ford Health with care and respect to internal and external customers.Maintains awareness of personal actions and their impact on the image of nursing.FINANCE:Aware of financial implications of actions based on safety and effectiveness.Supports the unit financially by using resources in a cost-effective manner.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Graduation from an accredited school of anesthesia.Master's degree required.Ability to work harmoniously in collaborative situations with anesthesiologists and other health care providers.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:Clinical PrivilegesState of Michigan RN LicenseState Specialty CertificationCRNA CertificationALS CertificationBLS CertificationPALS CertificationMust meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:Frequent walking, bending, and lifting may be required.Work is generally in an operating room environment, but can be in other areas as needed.Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:Organization: Henry Ford West Bloomfield HospitalDepartment: HFWB AnesthesiaShift: RotatingUnion Code: Not Applicable
