CRNA'sAdministers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during surgical procedures, obstetrical deliveries, or other medical and dental procedures.Potentially administers anesthesia to all ages and A.S.A. classes of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Provides airway management services as needed throughout the hospital.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:PeopleProvides leadership in the professional practice setting.Supports and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.Identifies patient problems and collaborates with the Anesthesia / Surgeon / Perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions.Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate the perioperative care.Promotes a healthy work environment through professional communication standards, commitment to co-workers, and positive problem resolution.ServiceConducts appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments and documents findings.In collaboration with the anesthesiologist, determines the appropriate anesthetic plan of management, managing all aspects of anesthesia care.Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non-emergent, and resuscitation situations throughout the hospital.Anticipates and exceeds patients and customers' expectations that meet all elements of the Henry Ford Experience.Identifies services and care improvement ideas and acts on them to create excellent customer experiences.Demonstrates, supports, and assumes personal accountability for consistently upholding team members to the standards across the System and adhering to Henry Ford Health policies and procedures.Recognizes the unique contribution all health care team members contribute to the patient experience.Performs other related duties as assigned.Quality and SafetyIndependently uses and documents the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal-focused, individualized, safe, age-specific care for all patients.Seeks to understand and incorporate safe practices and evidence-based practices into daily nursing care.Maintains compliance with regulatory standards regarding practice, environment, and documentation.Directs and delegates nursing care based on patient acuity and staff competency.Participates in quality improvement/patient safety initiatives and programs.GrowthParticipates in professional development and continuous learning.Contributes to establishing, maintaining, and improving the workplace environment that encourages respectful interactions with colleagues.Maintains knowledge and skills in appropriate technology.Research and EducationProvides education for staff, colleagues, patients, and/or families.Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in the area of specialty.Integrates research findings into practice.CommunityParticipates in community activities and/or professional organizations.Represents Henry Ford Health by promoting an atmosphere of care, concern, pride, and respect.FinanceAware of financial implications of actions and decisions based on factors related to safety and effectiveness.Supports the unit financially by using resources in a cost-effective manner.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.Graduation from an accredited school of anesthesia.Master's degree required.Ability to work harmoniously in collaborative situations with anesthesiologists and other health care providers.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:Clinical PrivilegesState of Michigan RN LicenseState Specialty CertificationCRNA CertificationALS CertificationBLS CertificationMust meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:Frequent walking, bending, lifting may be required to perform duties. Work is generally in an operating room environment, but can be in Radiology, ICU, ER, or wherever nurse anesthesia services are required in the hospital.Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards.
