Thrive in this crucial role!As a senior people leader in the OCI Reliability group, you will be driving the creation of services ensuring the highest level of availability and reliability for OCI services and customers. We are building new technologies that automate the detection, diagnosis, and recovery for operational incidents in OCI global distributed cloud services. These are exciting times in our space - we are growing fast, still at an early stage, and working on ambitious new initiatives. If you have a passion for solving difficult ambiguous problems in a collaborative, agile work environment, a knack for creativity and innovative thinking, and strong technical experience leading such teams – come and join us!This role is based in Pacific Time Zone (US West), due to requirement to work closely with other teams and stakeholders in different locations across the globe.ResponsibilitiesLeading a team owning complex systems with high scalability, performance, and security.Partnering with other development teams responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing solutions within a distributed computing environment.Providing technical leadership to a team of engineers.Taking the product through architecture and design reviews with senior technical leaders and architects in the company.Defining the future of services used daily by both customers and internal teams.Planning, design, and execution of delivery roadmap for complex, highly technical tools and services in the Cloud.Owning organizational structure, headcount planning, recruiting targets and performance management.Attracting high-value talent from outside the organization and developing and retaining top talent.Advocating for change and influencing geographically distributed cross-functional teams.Driving performant, scalable, and forward-thinking solutions to completion on time.Raising the bar for engineering quality and best practices.Engaging with stakeholders and influencing business leaders.Minimum Qualifications7+ years people management and/or lead experience with at least 2+ years leading an organization including other managers or leads.Experienced leader and exemplary manager of software engineering teams, including owning and improving quality of org-wide processes, with responsibility including roadmap planning, talent review and goal setting.Experience in the problem space of Service / Cloud Reliability and Incident Management.Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education.Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.Proven track record of successfully shipping new products in an agile environment.Demonstrated technical domain knowledge in System Design of public Cloud technologies and/or distributed systems.Comfort with complex, constantly evolving environments. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and excel under high level of ambiguity.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education.Experience with key related technologies, such as microservice-based architectures, distributed systems, Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, REST APIs, Cloud services, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform.Ability to build, drive and promote cross-team processes and achieve org-wide impact.Previous experience with system monitoring, automation, and incident management and response systems.Previous experience as a Software Engineer or Software Architect.Does this sound like you?
