Steptoe LLP, a Washington, DC-based Am Law 100 firm, is actively seeking a Toxicology Specialist to join our Chemical and Life Sciences Practice Group in our Washington, D.C. office. The Toxicology Specialist will support regulatory assessments for food-contact materials, food, animal feed, cosmetics, dietary supplements, pesticides, and other products and chemicals regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and similarly situated counterpart agencies across the globe.Essential Functions

Evaluation of the safety of various chemistries used in the manufacture of regulated productsReview of technical publications, toxicological studies, and safety assessmentsDevelopment and drafting of risk assessments and toxicology summariesCoordination with Steptoe's attorneys and other scientific specialists to assist in developing legal and regulatory positions for establishing compliance with applicable requirements.Non-Essential Functions

Complete other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Toxicology or a closely related field of discipline is requiredPrevious experience working with - or in support of assessments related to - FDA, EPA, USDA, and/or the State of California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 ("Proposition 65") is strongly preferred.Success Factors

Available to work in the office 9:00 - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.Hybrid work arrangements may be available for this positionNon-Smoking environmentAvailable to work beyond regular hours when necessaryThe anticipated base salary for this position is $175,000 - $190,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.Steptoe offers a full range of benefits for you and your eligible dependents.
