From small watercraft to submarines, combatants and aircraft carriers, our systems and maintenance experts help the Navy maintain a high state of readiness.Who We AreHII Mission Technologies is seeking a talented and motivated Designer 2 to join our Integrated Product and Support team. As a Designer 2, you will be responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings and schematics using computer-aided design (CAD) software. You will work closely with engineers and other designers to ensure that designs meet customer requirements and are manufacturable.What You Will DoDesign components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.Utilize computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM or CATIA.Gather information, make studies, compute calculations, and prepare original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposals.Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.What You Must HaveAA or other 2-year technical degree in related discipline and 0 years experience. HS and 3 years related experience may be substituted for AA degree.Some background in electrical engineering.Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise drawings.Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to design and drafting.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.Bonus Points For Having!Proficiency in the use of CAD software, particularly AutoCAD and SolidWorks.Physical RequirementsAbility to work in shipboard environment. Able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. May involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels, riding ships at sea for extended periods.
