Senior Product Manager - Linux

Our group is responsible for the Linux operating systems that power Azure – from VMs and containers, to bare metal, and silicon – in the cloud and at the edge. We work closely with upstream communities, with software and hardware vendors, OEMs, Linux distribution partners, and with hundreds of customers inside and outside Microsoft to create and operate OS platforms and products with the highest security, hardware-accelerated performance, and innovation agility. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational development of Azure Linux across the entire product lifecycle – including package and version selection, prioritization, and collaboration with upstream projects. You will work closely with engineering, product management, and partners from across the company to drive outcomes. Responsibilities

You will drive the operational aspects of the Azure Linux platform, collaborating across Microsoft to define the platform and its success criteria.You will work with teams across Microsoft to create, prioritize, and deliver on the roadmap for features and lifecycle needs that enable Azure Linux across multiple use cases to fit the needs of internal and external customers.You will identify areas where Microsoft can meaningfully engage with and contribute to upstream open source projects and communities.You will enable sustainability of customer solutions by providing or updating documentation, best practices, and guidelines as well as advocating for improvements in support processes for Azure Linux.You will proactively work with partners across the ecosystem to identify and obtain certifications, and security benchmarks, to meet or exceed customer requirements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.1+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.Experience working with cloud environments, deployments at scale, or cloud products.Experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, and presenting complex information clearly.Other Requirements:Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmentOR equivalent experience.Experience using Linux or working with other open source communities.Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.Knowledge of modern technology concepts such as containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and general open source fundamentals.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
