OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONSenior Transit & Rail Project Manager | DC/TysonsVHB is seeking a Senior Transit & Rail Project Manager to work in our growing Mid-Atlantic region. This role will lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers in the development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of rail and transit infrastructure projects, including conceptual, preliminary, and final design involving light rail transit, bus rapid transit, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, and freight rail improvements.ResponsibilitiesManage multiple, simultaneous efforts including projects of various topics and complexityDevelop, manage, and maintain project schedules and budgetsLead development of project deliverables and provide quality controlWork directly with client project manager and maintain a good relationshipManage financial progress through timely submittal of invoices and progress reports and initiation of change orders for out-of-scope servicesPrepare technical reports and analysesManage multidisciplinary teamsTake an active role in business development and identify new project opportunitiesRepresent VHB at regional conferences, seminars, and industry eventsManage and prepare technical and cost proposalsPrepare and deliver technical presentationsAssist in the development of business and marketing plansTake an active role in the development and mentoring of the Transit & Rail group staffWork to improve the VHB Transit & Rail ‘brand’ and to achieve industry excellence and consistencySkills & AbilitiesProven ability to coordinate with interdisciplinary teams such as Planning, Architecture, Environmental, Structural, Civil, and Traffic EngineeringStrong understanding of transit and rail infrastructure and multi-discipline system integrationTechnical experience in multiple transit and rail design disciplines (track, grade crossings, stations structures, transit facilities, route design)Experience in understanding NEPA and public perception of transit and rail project impacts to service availability and qualityExcellent technical written and verbal communication skills and analytical skillsStrong public speaking and business development skillsExcellent project management skillsStrong capability in use of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPointCapability in the use of project management applications such as MS Project or PrimaveraMinimum RequirementsBS in Civil Engineering or related field15+ years of progressive technical experience in transit and rail planning/engineering/program management and implementation of transit and rail projectsPE licenseMinimum of 5 years as a Project ManagerProven ability to manage a multidisciplinary teamThe base salary range for this position is $160,000 - 220,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
