We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a highly customer-centric and early-stage team for Amazon Stores Finance Technology Team. The Team:
WW Amazon Stores Finance is poised for a revolution. Historically, automation and technical infusion has taken a back-seat to important financial functions such as controllership, financial oversight, risk mitigation, and strong investment analysis. Finance is set to be the Chief Story Tellers, and along the way inject machine learning, BI, advanced analytics and technical tools – built to suit finance and business needs.
We are constantly innovating customer experience for internal Amazon customers. We focus on highly specialized space of Finance, Financial Planning, and Analytics space. We understand our customers well and expect the incumbent to have experience in solving customer problems in this space.
The ideal candidate is structured, innovative, and enjoys taking on hard, ambiguous problems. They are creative, driven, and highly productive. They are a great team player who will naturally elevate the performance of the people around them and have a track record of leading and delivering complex technical systems.
You will be working with a cross-functional team of software engineers, application engineers, data engineers, product managers, and customer service teams.
To be successful, you need to be flexible and entrepreneurial, comfortable operating with ambiguity, and willing to develop quick proof of concepts. You are a true owner - you are passionate about the potential customer and societal impact and will operate at all levels, diving deep into the details while providing strategic inputs for the product.

The WWASFT team is looking for talented and passionate software engineering managers with strong technical and business systems backgrounds to build new financial planning & analytical services and products. This position is not for implementing or supporting existing software packages but rather for the development of new systems and internal customer-facing features that are critical to the success of our customer’s businesses.
Basic Qualifications4+ years of experience in finance domain - Oracle Financials, SAP r/3, TM1 Planning7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experienceKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsExperience partnering with product or program management teams
Key Job ResponsibilitiesWork with other senior leaders on the team to build the technical strategy & architecture for a new serviceDesign & develop teams that build world-class software and servicesMentor & grow engineers across the team, leading by example and insisting on high standardsDevelop tools & processes to enable best-in-class operations for our servicesAs a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of a new service that will eventually scale across devices and mobile platforms. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. You will be helping to hire and build your team and systems.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
