Scientific leader with deep subject-matter expertise, driving project team progression and development of technical capabilities.Senior scientific and team leader within the Inflammation division of the GI/Inflammation Drug Discovery Unit (DDU) responsible for:Helping to build an industry-leading drug discovery pipeline for autoimmune diseases, immune-mediated GI, or dermatological diseases leading independent design and implementation of drug discovery pipeline programs.Leading the evaluation and integration of external programs and academic collaborations into the pipeline, in line with established strategic focus areas.Contribute to multiple preclinical or clinical projects, acting as senior scientific consultant and/or project team leader.ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provides scientific contributions which have significant impact on portfolio progress or development of technical capabilities, based on benchmarking to industry best-in-class.Contributes to development and implementation of scientific strategy, through tangible deliverables; challenges dogmas and internal 'blind spots'; actively pressure-tests ideas cross-functionally and via external network.Responsible for the validation, nomination and progression of drug discovery pipeline programs through direct project champion roles and management of junior staff.Responsible for the evaluation, establishment and integration of external programs from academic or BD collaborations into GI / Inflammation pipeline in line with established strategic focus areas.Matrix with other parts of the Takeda organization including chemistry, DMPK, safety, translational, and clinical development to advance pipeline programs.Provide significant input into department strategy including areas of scientific focus, partnerships, and collaborations.Participate in management of resourcing and budget planning for his/her pipeline programs.Contribute to the preparation/editing/review of documents for regulatory submission (i.e., study reports, IB’s, IND’s).Establishes a strong external reputation, through scientific publication and presentation.EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

PhD degree in immunology or closely related discipline with 10+ years' experience, or MS with 16+ years' experience, or BS with 18+ years' experience.At least 7 years' experience in a managerial role in a pharmaceutical/biotech environment.The position will be based in Cambridge, MA. This position is currently classified as “hybrid” by Takeda’s Hybrid and Remote Work policy.Locations
