All products are designed for sensitive skin, high-performance, and 100% adhere to the National Eczema Association’s ingredient guidelines. We want to push the boundaries of what beauty should be, a mix of high quality, high standards, and high levels of fun (clean beauty doesn’t have to be so serious!). Our products are also vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free + derm-approved.What You’ll be DoingThe Sr. Manager of Regulatory Affairs will spearhead all regulatory compliance and safety reviews for the brand’s new product development launch calendar while maintaining compliance across the existing product portfolio. This role is critical in ensuring that all our beauty products meet local, national, and international regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the beauty industry's regulatory landscape, including MOCRA, international registration, and a strong background in quality assurance and control. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, product development, and brand management, to ensure that all products are safe, effective, and fully compliant in all markets.Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance & Leadership: Lead the development and maintenance of the global regulatory affairs strategy, ensuring compliance with national and international standards for new and existing product portfolios.New Product Development: Spearhead regulatory compliance and safety reviews for all new product launches, ensuring alignment with global regulatory requirements and brand-specific no-no lists. Identify and recommend critical safety and efficacy tests to substantiate product claims and ensure regulatory compliance.Existing Product Portfolio: Oversee and maintain regulatory compliance for the existing product portfolio, ensuring adherence to brand blacklists, retailer requirements, and international distribution standards.Certification Management: Manage the process of obtaining and renewing product certifications (e.g., organic, cruelty-free, vegan) while ensuring global compliance.Documentation: Maintain comprehensive regulatory documentation, including raw material data, clinical testing results, and compliance reports, ensuring records are ready for audits.Project Management: Manage regulatory timelines, participate in project meetings, and provide updates to leadership to ensure timely completion of regulatory requirements.Supplier & Manufacturer Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure regulatory and quality standards are met for raw materials, finished goods, and packaging.Quality Assurance Collaboration: Partner with PD & Packaging to address quality assurance challenges, implement solutions, and ensure compliance with packaging, labeling, and marketing claims standards.Risk Management: Identify and mitigate regulatory risks associated with new product development and ongoing production, ensuring continuous compliance.Cross-functional Collaboration: Integrate regulatory considerations into product development and marketing strategies through close collaboration with Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Legal teams.Global Compliance Monitoring: Monitor global regulatory changes and proactively advise on potential impacts to the product portfolio, ensuring compliance.Packaging & Label Compliance: Review, approve, and submit label copy for packaging to ensure global compliance. This process encompasses evaluating translations, artwork, and product marketing claims for accuracy and adherence to international regulations. Coordinate with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals, ensuring all packaging elements meet legal requirements across diverse markets.Budget Oversight: Oversee regulatory and international registration budgets.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 5-7 years of regulatory affairs experience, particularly in cosmetics, skincare, or personal care products.In-depth knowledge of global cosmetic regulations, including FDA, EU Cosmetic Regulation, and international labeling and packaging compliance.Proven experience in managing regulatory submissions and obtaining product certifications (e.g., organic, cruelty-free, vegan).Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory information to different audiences.Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of balancing regulatory requirements with the brand’s growth strategy.Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively across departments and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiar with regulatory databases and software.Must be based in Los Angeles, CA.We OfferSalary range for this position is 85k-115k (potential for more senior title and salary based on experience).Holidays, vacation, and sick time.Summer Fridays, two WFH weeks each year, quiet week between Christmas and New Years.
