National Grid is hiring a Lead Business Strategist for our Electric Network Control Modernization Team in Northborough, MA.This position is a hybrid role that works remotely and reports onsite to Electric Control Centers in Massachusetts at least two days a week.Our electric transmission and distribution control centers are adopting cutting-edge technologies. We are modernizing the fundamental capabilities such as energy management and outage management systems while paving the path for utilization of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and distributed markets. Grid Automation is right in the middle of this journey. The distribution system continues to serve more solar and energy storage customers, both residential and commercial in size. National Grid's Massachusetts control centers will continue to excel in operating our electric grid safely, accurately, and efficiently. Our objective is to provide a customer-centric transition to an increasingly computerized operation of our ever-complex electric grids.Job Purpose

The Lead Business Strategist (Strategist) serves as an ambassador to the electric organization. We have many digital projects that impact our databases, critical networking systems, operating procedures, and our culture. The Strategist combines the skills of process and project management with a strong focus on customer expectations in an Agile environment. As our digital teams build and integrate new capabilities, the strategist concisely defines Epics for Portfolio Management in a Scaled Agile Framework. Operational load forecasting and Distributed Energy Resource Management (DERMS) deployment will be some of the projects the Strategist will oversee on behalf of the Massachusetts electric business. The Strategist also coordinates with other grid modernization projects to ensure business change is in place, project dependencies closely managed, and organizational outcomes are satisfied.Key Accountabilities

Challenge project teams to ensure project scope, designs, and delivery solutions are innovative, efficient, fit for purpose, and prevent creep.Lead a team to manage and deliver a project safely to time, cost, and specification within governance requirements including project initiation documents, project execution plans, and management of plans, schedule, National Grid resources, budgets, quality, and risks.Provide accurate and timely monthly project status reports covering milestone progress, risk management, current and forecast financial performance to ensure robust tracking and reporting against the long-term plan.Manage projects within a business function utilizing all available resources and relationships.Ensure predictable and unexpected complexities are effectively managed through stakeholder influence and management.Manage dependencies, risks, plans, costs, and resourcing for each project and dependencies across interlinked projects.Ensure that the project offers a range of options and implements a change that achieves the objectives that have been set and that the business benefits are realized.Make use of full methodology and techniques autonomously for self and to supervise and advise others on the appropriate approach.Supervisory/Interpersonal Experience Required

Demonstrable interpersonal skills and influencing skills to manage relationships across the business to engage and work alongside business function leads to drive performance improvements and agree on required changes to business processes.Exceptional communication, both written and verbal, are required.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field; Master's with Management concentration or MBA is beneficial.Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in the electric power systems industry or direct experience with electric operations.Minimum 2 years of experience as a project manager or key project team member on projects with a duration of longer than 12 months.Understanding of Portfolio Management, Scaled Agile Framework, and JIRA tools or similar experience in project management - SAFe certification is a plus.Presentation and communication skills on Microsoft Office platforms.Good business acumen, understanding and aligning Grid Modernization business strategies with Agile practices.Demonstrated problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze complex business problems and devise effective solutions.Proven leadership skills to guide teams and influence stakeholders.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration.More Information
