DIRECTOR

for the Legal Pathways program. The UW Tacoma Legal Pathways Program Director leads the Legal Pathways program, which was launched in 2019 to build and support law-related opportunities for UW Tacoma students. The program seeks to unite students, faculty, staff, and the Tacoma community in law-related education, research, events, networking, and other programming that prepares students for success in law school and other law-related professions. A priority for this initiative is to contribute to enlarging the pathway into the legal professions for first-generation students.The Director will provide leadership for the Legal Pathways program with respect to the following activities:Program Leadership and Management – 35%

Identifying areas of strategic priority for the Legal Pathways program.Allocating resources and managing the program budget.Overseeing day-to-day activities of the program.Preparing/presenting reports regarding program objectives and outcomes.

Program Development and Delivery - 15%

Designing and leading workshops and activities to prepare students for success in law school.Implementing and supporting law-related special projects and events.Collaborating with academic units on program delivery and assessment.

Community and Campus Outreach – 30%

Serving as a spokesperson and liaison of the program.Convening and supporting the Community Advisory Board.Promoting the advancement of the program through fundraising.Exploring ways to involve the local legal community.Developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies.

Student Support – 20%

Overseeing all pre-law advising and programs.Collaborating on the selection of faculty to teach TLAW 200.Mentoring students interested in legal pathways.Supporting law-related student organizations.

Minimum Requirements:Doctoral degree in Juris Doctorate, political science, sociology, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in the legal field.Additional Requirements:Experience in implementing and managing new programmatic initiatives.Experience in community engagement, preferably focusing on legal issues.A record of successful collaboration and effective public relations skills.Demonstrated success in building relationships with diverse audiences.Project management skills including operations and budget oversight.Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.Desired:

3-5 years of experience within a higher education environment is preferred.Application Process:
