Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead our fundraising efforts and advance our mission. The CDO will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive development strategy to drive significant growth in fundraising and donor engagement. This role requires a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, strong leadership skills, and expertise in utilizing CRM software to manage and enhance donor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution:

Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to meet and exceed annual revenue goals. Collaborate with the executive team and board to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities and growth objectives.

Fundraising Leadership:

Lead and inspire a high-performing development team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. Oversee all aspects of fundraising, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events.

Donor Relations & Stewardship:

Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, prospects, and stakeholders. Implement effective stewardship practices to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term engagement.

CRM Management:

Utilize CRM software to track and analyze donor data, manage relationships, and optimize fundraising efforts. Ensure the accurate and timely reporting of fundraising performance and trends.

Team Management:

Recruit, mentor, and manage a talented development team. Provide guidance, set goals, and evaluate performance to drive individual and team success.

Budget & Financial Oversight:

Develop and manage the development department’s budget. Monitor financial performance and ensure resources are allocated effectively to achieve fundraising goals.

Community Engagement:

Represent Families 4 Families at community events, networking functions, and conferences. Promote the organization’s mission and build relationships with potential supporters and partners.

Innovation & Best Practices:

Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising. Introduce innovative approaches to enhance fundraising strategies and donor engagement.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Achievement of annual fundraising goals and revenue targets.

Growth in major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grant funding.

Enhanced donor retention and increased lifetime value of donors.

Effective management and growth of the development team.

Successful execution of fundraising campaigns and special events.

Qualifications:

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a demonstrated history of raising over $1 million annually. Proven track record in leading successful fundraising campaigns and managing donor relationships.

Leadership:

Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team. Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide staff to achieve ambitious goals.

CRM Expertise:

Proficiency in CRM software and data management. Experience with donor databases and analytics to drive informed decision-making and strategic planning.

Communication Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present and advocate for the organization’s mission and goals to diverse audiences.

Strategic Thinking:

Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFRE) are a plus.

Attributes:

High level of integrity, commitment to the mission, and a collaborative approach. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Demonstrated alignment with the organization’s faith-based values and mission. Ability to incorporate faith principles into fundraising and community engagement efforts.
