We help guide the financial direction of the company by analyzing the long-term impact of our programs and elevating Chegg’s financial and unit economic potential.We are strategists, analysts, partners, thought leaders, relationship builders, and dealmakers; and we are looking to grow our team.Your RoleThe Director, Strategic Investments plays a vital role in prioritizing and executing strategic initiatives that influence Chegg’s growth trajectory. In this role, you will help drive two principal functions that underpin the team’s impact: (1) planning and execution of Chegg’s M&A and investments and (2) analysis, debate, and consensus-building around our strategic options, through rigorous financial analysis and long-range planning. In this highly visible role, you are expected to advocate thoughtfully on behalf of Chegg’s strategic interests, catalyzing the alignment and execution necessary to achieve them.ResponsibilitiesWork directly with the VP, Strategic Growth along with internal stakeholders across key functions, including senior executivesPossess a comprehensive understanding of Chegg’s strategic priorities along with the pathways that bring them to fruition; nurture an intellectually authentic environment for making high-stakes decisionsSupport, and ideally lead, all phases of the M&A process, including in the areas of target identification, relationship development, business analysis, valuation, negotiation, execution, and integration planningLead financial analyses that (1) bring clarity to ROI, (2) clearly articulate business model implications, and (3) reinforce the long-term financial objectives of the company; support the framing, quantification, and prioritization processPrepare and deliver evidence-based presentations supported by compelling strategic narratives and rationaleContribute to the development of supporting strategies that dovetail with Chegg’s overall goalsDevelop trusted and resourceful relationships both internally and externally to sharpen our strategic and competitive perspectiveRequirements10+ years of experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or related field with direct experience leading some, if not all, aspects of M&A transactionsSignificant experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams in the execution of M&A transactions, including thesis development, due diligence, negotiation, execution, and integrationExceptional versatility: able to effectively prioritize, zoom-in/zoom-out in accordance with business needs; gritHighly proficient in business and financial analysis, able to synthesize meaningful insights with imperfect informationSubstantial experience building relationships with senior management, both internally and externallyAble to report into our Santa Clara, CA headquarters (preferred) or our New York, NY officeBachelor’s degree, MBA preferredDemonstrated interest or direct experience in EdTech is a plusThe pay range for this position is $227,371 - 422,260. The actual pay will vary based on geographic location, job requirements, professional experience, and other factors.
