Job Summary:
As the Manager, Ammonia Refrigeration Systems you will report directly to the Director, Site Engineering. In this role, you will be required to manage all aspects of the Ammonia Refrigeration Systems and direct the daily maintenance activities across 24-7 coverage. The Manager, Ammonia Refrigeration Systems will ensure compliance with all aspects of the New Jersey – Toxic Catastrophic Prevention Act (TCPA). Additionally the Manager, Ammonia Refrigeration Systems will serve as the backup Chief Engineer to the Director, Site Engineering.
Responsibilities
Oversee the day to day operations, maintenance, and repair of ammonia refrigeration equipment and systems such as valve groups, compressors, electric motors, pumps, condensers for evaporators, compressed air, PLC’s (troubleshooting) and related processes, machines and equipment.
Ensure that all refrigeration equipment is maintained and repaired in a manner which meets company standards.
Adhere to all company established safety standards and company policies and procedures, as well as state laws including TCPA concerning refrigeration operations.
Solicits and reviews bids and quotes from vendors; selects and manages vendor work.
Works closely with Director, Site Engineering for scheduling preventative maintenance.
Direct repair and maintenance activities for Ammonia Refrigeration Systems.
Purchases parts and supplies for refrigeration equipment.
Ensure maintenance projects comply with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental requirements and regulations
Review and approve time sheets.
Maintains a clean and organized work area that promotes safety and efficiency.
Ability to build teams and develop/coach/mentor employees
Keeps full and up to date records of all equipment to ensure traceability
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
15 or more years of practical hands on work experience with Industrial R717 (Ammonia) refrigeration systems
Industrial supervisory experience, maintenance required
Must carry a current New Jersey - Blue Seal Refrigeration Engineer License or higher
Experience with TCPA management
Ability to do Industrial Ammonia Equipment Repairs and service, such as pump rebuilds, sensor calibrations, PM’s on Filter and Frick compressors and perform ammonia pump outs safely
Develop long-range strategic plans to ensure maintenance requirements are accomplished
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Individual is detail oriented and organized; able to manage multiple projects concurrently, set priorities and follow through.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
Basic PC skills with spreadsheet and word-processing software preferred.
Able to work varied shifts, including weekends as needed
An understanding of maintenance management systems and processes; preventative and predictive maintenance; manufacturing technologies; and standard software applications
Serve as Alternate to Director, Site Engineering.
