Position Summary:

Our client is in need of a Tax Manager (Contractor), responsible for tax-related functions within the organization. This includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, preparing and filing tax returns, and developing tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position. The Tax Manager will also provide guidance on tax-related matters to internal departments and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance:

Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, sales, property, and other business taxes.

Review and manage the preparation of estimated tax payments and extensions.

Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities.

Tax Planning and Strategy:

Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while complying with applicable laws.

Advise management on the tax implications of business decisions and potential tax issues.

Conduct tax research and analysis to support planning strategies and ensure best practices.

Tax Reporting:

Oversee the preparation of tax provision and reporting requirements under GAAP or IFRS.

Ensure accurate reporting of tax positions and disclosure requirements in financial statements.

Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and reviews.

Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate tax risks, including reviewing contracts and transactions for potential tax implications.

Manage and resolve tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Accounting, Legal, HR) to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Serve as the primary contact for tax-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Process Improvement:

Continuously evaluate and improve tax processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, MST, or equivalent certification preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant tax experience, including managerial responsibilities. Experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department is desirable.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in tax software and financial systems.
