Who We Are
At Serval, we're building a next-generation IT support and automation platform. The market we are in is massive, with multiple deca-corn incumbents, however competitor products have had little innovation and take far too much specialized knowledge and time to setup and maintain. Serval "automates the automation" using a natural language workflow builder and AI agents that discover and deliver automations for tedious IT workflows and common help requests.
Our mission is to free IT departments from help desk queues by creating the simplest way to automate employee onboarding/off-boarding, software access management, and general troubleshooting. Long term, our vision extends to developing a universal workflow automation platform for all business functions.
Serval was founded by product and engineering leaders from Verkada and is backed by industry-leading investors like First Round and General Catalyst.
Role Overview
As a Founding Engineer at Serval, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform. You will be tasked with building foundational parts of our technology and your contributions will be key to defining the success of our product.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with our CTO to build our product from the ground up. Be a champion for user experience, incorporating a deep understanding of our users to guide design decisions alongside the founding team. Set the foundational system architecture and select key technologies for the codebase. Help us build an MVP and deliver on our technical and product roadmap. Help establish engineering best practices and standards within the team. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence. Requirements
3+ years of experience as a software engineer. Experience with zero-to-one development: You should have built new products or systems from the ground up. Deep appreciation for and commitment to delivering outstanding user experiences. Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to work cross-functionally. Comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a fast-growing startup environment. Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field. Nice to Have
We are looking for web frontend and backend engineers, so ideally you will have deep experience in one of those domains. However, an ability to move around the stack into new areas as needed is definitely appreciated. Experience with some of the technologies in our stack: Go, GRPC, Kubernetes, React, Typescript, AWS and Terraform. Early-stage experience at a startup. What We Offer
