The Amergis Division is currently seeking highly skilled SPED Teachers in Phoenix, AZ area!

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares student education plans in consultation with parents and department team membersSupports learning for students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.Designs instruction, both individual and small group, which parallels the general education curriculumAssists parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop educational plans designed to promote students' educational, physical, and social developmentPrepares materials and classrooms for class activitiesServes as the coordinator of individualize education program (IEP) implementation with general education staffMonitors student progress, participates in review and revision of student's IEP, as appropriateMaintains accurate student recordsMentors and supports teaching assistants who provide support to students with disabilitiesSupports students in preparation for grade transitions and preparing for life skillsAssess students' skills and educational needs and tracks student's performanceDiscusses students' progress with their other teachersCommunicates to maintain positive relationships with students and their parentsFollows School District policies and proceduresMinimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferredValid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulationsMinimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferredState Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferredState Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferredState Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferredEndorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageGeneral Comments
