Cape Fox subsidiary Eagle Health is accepting resumes for a Clinical Research Nurse to provide services at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development in Bethesda, Maryland. Bachelor of Science in NursingMinimum of four (4) years of experience in a clinical research environment

Core Duties:

Attend and participate in patient care conferencesPerform assessments and collect medical histories and physicalsPerform collection, maintenance and analysis of data, entering and tracking patient dataUtilize the computer-based systems (e.g. CRIS, CTDB), to receive examination requisition, retrieve patient information needed for examinations and record patient dataSchedule testing and clinic appointments; initiate medical records; make admission room reservationsAssess participant's physiologic condition upon admission, and monitor throughout visit and upon dischargeAssess, record and report patient reactions to drugs, and report study drug adverse reactions to investigatorsAssess patient through follow-up by phone, written correspondence or emailPerform and assist physicians performing basic physical examination (i.e., measurement of vitals), performance battery of physical function, neuropsychological testing and a standardized interviewConduct patient recruitmentPerform collection, maintenance and analysis of dataDocument care provided, per protocol requirementsTeach patients and families about conditions, treatments and medicationsCommunicate abnormal results and problems and concerns to the research staff and informs patient of processes and activities for review and follow upPrepare patients for surgical and/or diagnostic procedures, thoroughly explaining the activities and steps of the procedure and anticipated outcomesSchedule new/return patients' appointments and return patients/families phone callsProvide participant education regarding the research program or testing procedure and instruct participants on computerized testingPrepare medication instructions and detail steps necessary to properly self-administer, monitor, and report results in the case of adverse reactionsCollaborate with physician to plan, evaluate, coordinate, and revise program to deliver the most efficient health care serviceAttend patient rounds, protocol information meetings, participate in patient care conferences, and write and maintain research protocolsPerform professional nursing duties in the care of patients and serve as the primary nurse for a specific population of patientsProvide comprehensive nursing care to patients based on the physicians' medical care plan and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patientManage testing to ensure that projects and protocol responsibilities are completed within timelines given the availability and allocation of resources related to clinical trialsPlan, implement, evaluate, document care provided, per protocol requirements and good clinical practice standardsIncorporate research protocol requirements into the delivery of care for participants in support of the research effortsCoordinate the collection and analysis of research data; ensure that all records are completeDevelop plans to address patients' needs, initiate appropriate referrals, and provide routine careCoordinate health care needs and make referrals to medical specialistsSupport the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research programWork with staff on clinical care of subjects enrolled in NICHD OCD research protocols and consultationsWork with staff on clinical research activitiesWrite and maintain research protocolsAssist Nurse Practitioners, evaluate and make recommendations to improve patient care, and adhere to good clinical practicesReview standard nursing procedures and document areas in need of improvementResearch industry best practices and recommend those for further evaluationReview patient/patient family feedback and provide summary reporting for further reviewPerform procedures like IV placement, phlebotomy, and administering medications, and monitors patient progressAfter successful completion of physical exam, administer and document medications per physician's ordersInsert and maintain peripheral access intravenous (IV) lines and provide care of central venous access linesPerform phlebotomy to collect clinical and research blood samples per doctor's orders and protocol requirementsPerform specialized testing and document care provided, per protocol requirementsPerform appropriate action plan in response to emergency situations and illness of participants, including direct admissions for participants
