Position Overview

The Senior Software Developer's primary responsibility is to enhance, manage, and support our core Property and Casualty insurance applications. This position will support the system modernization, including configuration and integration of these, and will continuously evaluate current and emerging strategies.Position Location & Work FormatThis position can either work onsite daily at our Hastings, MI headquarters, hybrid (both remote and onsite), or fully remote.

If working fully remote, the employee, aside from their required new hire orientation, may be asked to travel to our headquarters for training or company events.

Regardless of the work format, this role will generally work our standard office hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00a - 4:30p ET. Note that work may take place outside of these hours.Position Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesigns, develops, and deploys complex systems integrations within the Guidewire Insurance Suite software configuration framework.Assists in architectural design recommendations and effectively present solution options for implementation with estimates.Assists in preparing technical design specifications based on functional requirements.Programs and configures components including but not limited to; any configuration elements, integration points via plug-ins, messaging, and programs that call the Guidewire Edge APIs.Follows Company software development lifecycle to design, code, configure, test, debug, and document system and application programs.Actively promotes and utilizes development standards, best practices, and proposes solutions to improve team productivity and/or business results.Assists in the training of junior team members.Actively participates in professional development, i.e. continuing education or self-improvement.Other duties as assigned by leadership, either verbally or in writing.Candidate Requirements & QualificationsAssociate or Bachelor's degree, related Microsoft or Sun certification, or equivalent work experience is required.3-5+ years of relevant experience is required.

Experience with the Guidewire insurance suite of products, or Guidewire technical certifications preferred.

Knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance domain preferred.In-depth knowledge of:

Java or another object-oriented programming language.Database concepts.Client/server concepts.

General knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) tools and related utilities.Assist in the training of junior team members.Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities, analytical reasoning, logical problem solving, strong attention to detail, and establishing priorities.Demonstrated excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.About Us
