DescriptionThe Technical Specialist 3 functions as project leader in directing Technical Design work on single or multiple contracts or projects. Working from information at the proposal, early contract or final construction stages, this individual will develop rigging arrangements, crane plans and other layouts as well as provide other Technical Design assistance as needed. This role functions as the interface between the Construction Technology, other BWCC departments, such as Operations, Estimating, and Purchasing, and and non-BWCC personnel, during proposal and project execution. This role is in our Construction Technology Group within BWCC. Utilize experience and creativity to solve structural and rigging arrangement problems of complex projects, maintaining close contact with Operations, Purchasing and Estimating to develop economical designs. Utilize the latest 2D and 3D CAD technology (such as AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks) to prepare basic rigging arrangement drawings, 3D models, and assembly/details for component parts and shop or field fabrication. Develop crane layout drawings, utilizing crane knowledge and information to assist Operations in lift planning and coordination Create site layout drawings to assist in project planning and development, incorporating structure and equipment from outside the project scope Apply design requirements from CAD data base, contract information sheets, customer specifications, proposal drawings, etc. into rigging design or details. Determine appropriate views, sections, and orientation on drawings to be made for the purpose of showing necessary information in the most effective manner. Develop material requirements for rigging plans that will be used by Operations to place material orders and assembly component orders for fabrication. Perform the checking function on all types of drawings, including verification that the arrangement/detail drawings fulfill the requirements or conditions defined in the design specified, and that they comply with all applicable company and industry standards. Verify drawing accuracy concerning such items as dimensions, fits and tolerances. Attend status meetings as required. Determine shop and field weld locations for all various components. Assist Operations in reviewing and selecting various pieces of vendor equipment. Review and comment on vendor equipment drawings per contract requirements. Travel domestically as required to Customer sites for model reviews/presentations with Customer, manufacturing shops or job sites. Also perform equipment walk-downs to take field measurements and establish site specific requirements. Qualifications Obtain a 2-year associates or technical degree in drafting/design AutoCAD 2D required. SolidWorks experience preferred 8-10 years experience preferred, especially in the Power Generation or Heavy Construction industry Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Must be able to manage multiple contracts and projects/project teams Must have strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and scheduling skills Must have time management and organization skills. Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point Must possess a strong safety and environmental culture utilizing human performance defenses. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills in person, by phone and in writing.
