Job Summary

The Associate GIS Analyst for Utilities provides support for the mapping and analysis for Purdue West Lafayette campus owned utilities distribution systems. The position is responsible for the datasets supporting the maintenance of utilities distribution data serving the WL campus proper, adjacent centers and identified lands within the Purdue University System. You will maintain and update existing datasets, create new datasets. You will also create and publish maps, apps, and other tools that facilitate safe and reliable campus utilities operations and planning across multiple units and agencies performing work on campus. As well as create documentation of processes and standards. This position will aid in the coordination and validation for biennial infrastructure inventory reporting and collaborate with distribution system owners, clients, and departmental partners to respond to questions, requests. You will produce both hardcopy and electronic map products that aid in business continuation, reports, and presentation materials.

As the GIS Analyst will create, develop, maintain, and enhance campus utility map data for Purdue University West Lafayette campus and extended area for use throughout Purdue University Physical Facilities and other departments of Purdue University and relevant agencies. You will be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of utility maps for water, sewer, gas, electric, steam, and other utility distribution systems for the Purdue West Lafayette campus, including relevant energy and metering information. This position will collaborate with distribution system owners, clients, and departmental partners to respond to questions, requests. You will also create and maintain static maps and dynamic, interactive web maps, designs cartographic products that are visually appealing, informative, and easy to use and interpret. Take lead in the design, creation, maintenance, and implementation of geographic data resources in support of utility and asset management. Performs data entry, annotates, edits and manipulates data to create final maps, data and online products.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience Needed:

Bachelor's of Science (4-year degree) in an accredited Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Geomatics or Information Technology curriculum or experience/training equivalent to a 4-year degree.Up to one (1) year of relevant recent experience with utility systems design, maintenance, and mapping.Relevant Computer aided design (CAD) and geographic information system (GIS) industry-standard software packagesExperience creating and delivering user-based GIS tools and servicesConsideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experiencePreferred:

ArcGIS experienceFor the GIS Analyst (P2) you will need the above and following:

Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of relevant recent experience with utility systems design, maintenance, and mapping for steam, chilled water, natural gas distribution, electric distribution, telecommunications, outdoor lighting, and utility polesTwo (2) years of recent relevant Computer aided design (CAD) or geographic information system (GIS) industry-standard software packagesThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS, utility tools, network modeling, and data managementPreferred:

As the Associate GIS Analyst (P1) you will need the following:
