Overview:

The Data Steward works congruently with the Asset Management and Information Technology departments, ensuring quality data and fitness for Pennroses organizational databases and data assets. The Data Steward will be responsible for accuracy and consistency of data management, developing and maintaining data standards, and ensuring data is protected and compliant with company regulations and standards. The Data Steward will report to the Director of Asset Management and Analytics and works out of the Philadelphia Corporate office.Pay range: $80,000 - $90,000/year depending on experience.Responsibilities:Work with business stakeholders and SMEs to ensure the assigned data domains are defined and documented in the business glossary according to standards and best practicesWork with key stakeholders to capture business rules for data and translating them to data quality rules, developing data quality scorecards and dashboardsProfile data to find gaps compared to stakeholder expectations pertaining to completeness, accuracy, and consistencyLead data governance communities of cross functional teams for the assigned data domain(s) to align and prioritize initiatives with business objectives and improve data quality for data driven decision makingPerform data profiling, data cataloging, and metadata managementWork closely with business stakeholders and data owners to define data policies, data classification, and access controlsConduct data lineage, ensuring transparency and traceability of data throughout its lifecycleImplement data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks across data domainsEstablish and maintain comprehensive data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata repositories for assigned data domainsServe as the primary point of contact and advocate for assigned data domainsCommunicate data governance policies, guidelines, and best practices to business units and data stakeholdersCollaborate with data stakeholders to establish data ownership, assign data custodianship, and define data access controlsProvide training, guidance, and support to business users on data governance principals and practicesPrepare and present data governance reports, metrics, and insightsConduct data quality assessments and data quality monitoring

Qualifications:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:At least five (5) years of experience in data management, data governance, or data stewardship roles, preferably in a complex organizational environmentProficient in SQL and have foundational understanding of database technologies with the ability to analyze and profile dataFamiliarity with data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA) and their impact on data management practicesStrong understanding of data management principals, data governance frameworks, and data quality conceptsExcellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness - Ability to communicate to various levels of management and employees succinctly and accuratelyGlobal experience preferredDemonstrate understanding of core business capabilities and the ability to quickly learn new industriesPossess excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross functional teams and stakeholdersDetail-oriented, analytical, and adept at problem solving to address data-related issues and coordinate the implementation of data improvement initiativesStay up to date with industry trends and emerging best practices in data management, governance, quality and stewardshipDemonstrated ability to analyze complex data landscapes, identify data risks, and define mitigation strategiesExcellent documentation and organizational skills to maintain data governance artifiacts and support audits and compliance requirementsRequired Education and Experience:Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.5 years of experience in a Data Steward or like role.Experience with metadata management tools such as Collibra or Informatica Metadata Manager.Experience with SQL and database management systems such as Oracle or SQL Server
