Description

As the Senior Buyer you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our procurement processes. You will be responsible for sourcing high-quality materials at competitive prices, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods. Your expertise in negotiation, market analysis, and strategic sourcing will be essential in supporting our production goals and maintaining our competitive edge in the food and beverage industry.

Contract Management:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment of objectives.Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize cost efficiency while ensuring quality standards are met.Regularly review and update contracts to reflect evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.RFQ Process & Management:

Develop and manage the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process to ensure competitive pricing and optimal supplier selection.Evaluate and analyze RFQ responses to make informed sourcing decisions.Basic Materials Resource Planning (MRP):

Utilize MRP systems to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and ensure timely procurement of materials.Coordinate with production and inventory control teams to align purchasing activities with production schedules.Procurement Strategy:

Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with company goals and operational needs.Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization.Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions.Supplier Relationship Management:

Manage the supplier selection process, including conducting due diligence, evaluating bids, and making recommendations based on both price and capability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as production, quality assurance, and finance, to ensure product specifications are met and resolve any supply issues.Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track procurement performance.Regularly analyze and report on procurement performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.Provide regular updates and reports to senior management, highlighting procurement accomplishments, challenges, and opportunities.Inventory Management:

Oversee the purchase order process from creation to closure, ensuring accuracy in terms and conditions, and compliance with company policies.Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely procurement of materials to support production schedules.Implement strategies to minimize excess inventory and stock outs.Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to food manufacturing and procurement.Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards.Performs other duties as required.

Background Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the food manufacturing or CPG industry.In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and regulatory requirements.Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and develop strategic plans.Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to travel as needed to visit suppliers and attend industry events (up to 25%).Working familiarity with FDA, FSQ, USDA, IQF, etc., is a plus.Understand Kosher requirements is a plus.

Salary Description
