As a member of the North American Central Engineering Group, theElectrical Project Engineer will work on projects across multiple North American plant sites or potentially assigned to future large scale Greenfield and Brownfield capital projects. This person must have extensive working knowledge of design, function, implementation, maintenance, and sustainability of all electrical & controls equipment components and systems in a heavy manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with a primary focus on Controls, Instrumentation, and project management/execution. This role will be based at one of our 10+ manufacturing plants with assigned projects varying across plant locations, therefore up to
50%
travel is expected.
What You'll Do:
Aid in power distribution system design; including electrical equipment layout, single line diagrams, Load Studies, and wiring schedules.
Collaborate with Electrical Engineering Consultants by reviewing and approving designs;
Integrate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines, and be able to work cross-functionally among them (e.g. civil, structural, mechanical, thermal, piping).
Develop specifications and purchase electrical power distribution equipment to align with company standards and best practices, including:transformers, switchgear, disconnects, motor control centers for process equipment.
Offer electrical insight into purchasing of material handling equipment, fluid systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, and high-pressure water), material conveyance systems, dust collection systems, storage silos, tanks, pumps, and valves.
Coordinate with Instrumentation and Controls team on automation system design including PLC programming, AC drives, servo drives, and operator interface (HMI) systems;
Prepare Scope of Work for Electrical installations.
Participate/Contribute in electrical system installation, checkout, equipment startup, and turnover to plant;

What You'll Bring:
BS Degree preferred (Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology)
5+ years of experience specifying, installing/maintaining electrical equipment in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Project Management Experience - Demonstrated capability for planning, budgeting, execution, scheduling, design and specification, procurement, installation oversight, and startup of electrical equipment.
Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing the performance of electrical control systems on continuous production machine systems (preferred);
Experience with computer network system installation and troubleshooting (preferred).
Knowledge of NFPA-70 (National Electrical Code)
Knowledge of power distribution QC testing procedures, conductor validation, arc flash surveys and labeling, and fault/coordination studies
Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation PLC systems, including CompactLogix, ControlLogix, and GuardLogix controllers (required)
Programming software, and Wonderware HMI and Historian server/client systems (preferred);
Knowledge of instrumentation (e.g., flowmeters, level sensors/transmitters, pressure transmitters, area scanners, inductive prox sensors).
Working knowledge of mainstream automation communication systems
Technical working knowledge of AC drives, including Rockwell Automation PowerFlex AC drives, Kinetix 5700 servo drives, and specialized large AC motors and controllers.
Demonstrated advanced skills with personal computers and strong aptitude with MS Office Suite (especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and advanced drawing skills with AutoCAD (preferred)
Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
Based at one of our James Hardie manufacturing sites is
required.
