Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is recruiting for a Senior Tax Accountant. Reporting to the Director of Finance, and working closely with the Financial Controller and CFO, the Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for working with our external tax advisors to coordinate all tax information necessary related to quarterly tax estimates, annual true-ups, and annual K-1's. This position is open to any of our office locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and resolve complex partner pass-thru entity (PTE) and state-and-local tax (SALT) issues.Coordinate with external tax accounts to process quarterly and annual tax payments and filings for all Dykema entities.Solicit elections on, and maintain accurate records of, partner state tax elections used for external tax accountants to make accurate estimated quarterly tax payments. Accountable for allocating member tax liabilities quarterly.Responsible for coordinating and filling all data and document requests related to the annual tax returns, reviewing firm and individual partner level returns.Responsible for the preparation and filing of all firm personal property tax returns including the timely payment of taxes when invoiced.Responsible for monthly and annual use tax filings along with miscellaneous regional business tax filings (i.e. Chicago, Washington D. C., Los Angeles).Assist with budgeting for taxes.Assist with stale dated check reconciliation and reporting to various State Departments for all escheated items.Proactively maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in state and federal tax laws and industry trends to advise management on the impact of these changes and recommend innovative strategies.Collaborate with partners and external parties to address inquiries on complex multi-state partnership taxation issues to achieve understanding and resolution.Complete special projects as requested.REQUIREMENTS

Strong understanding of general ledger, balance sheet, income statement, and financial reporting principles.Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced technical skills using Excel, required.Excellent communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills; attention to detail essential.Pro-active, inquisitive and analytical problem solver able to exercise independent judgment with a proven track record of improvements in areas of responsibility.Ability to collaborate and cross-team with all finance team members and promote a positive work environment that embraces the diversity and abilities of all members.Requires flexibility and ability to prioritize workload effectively.Excellent attention to detail required.EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.Minimum of three years of Tax Accountant experience.CPA and law firm experience strongly preferred.WORKING CONDITIONS
