With over 23 programs, we offer multiple ways to aid seniors maintain their health, well-being, independence and participation in the community, fulfilling our mission.IOA's Friendship Line Department ("FL") is seeking a Per-Diem Counselor for on-call support. This position may be remote in California but may require occasional appearances at the HQ in San Francisco for training or events.The Friendship Line Counselor - On-Call receives inbound calls and makes outbound calls providing emotional support, reassurance, counseling, crisis intervention and abuse prevention for older adults over the phone. The ideal candidate would be available for shift coverage on short notice between the hours of 7am-9pm Monday through Sunday. Shifts would range between 4-8 hours in length, providing coverage for staff on vacation or out sick.Other key duties and responsibilities may include, but are not necessarily limited to:Entering 100% of caller information into FL database in real timeAttending relevant training offered by Friendship Line trainers and IOA.Conducting crisis evaluation and/or suicide risk assessment as indicated.Contacting on duty supervisor for call center support as needed.Performing all other reasonably related tasks as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Prior or current college coursework in Human Services, Social Work, or other health-related field, including Gerontology, Psychology, or Health Sciences or a combination of work experience with the older adult population.TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS:High speed Internet connection (such as cable or DSL) with WiFiPersonal computer with Webcam (PC: Windows 7 SP1 or later, or Mac OS 10.11 or later)Personal mobile device (Apple iOS 8.3 or newer, or Android 4.2 and newer)DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:One year of experience as staff member, volunteer or intern at the Friendship Line, or equivalent experience at a telephone hotline/warmline/customer service.Bachelor's Degree or higher in Human Services, Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, Health Sciences, or another health-related field.Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.Strong detail-orientation, ability to multi-task and good problem-solving skills.MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).Flexibility and patience to work in a busy team environment.Ability to take direction and refer issues beyond scope of duties to Team Leads and/or Call Center Manager.Experience learning and using online databases.Experience working with older adults.Excellent telephone and communication skills.COMPENSATION:Range: $20.00 - 22.11 HourlyThis amount is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on actual experience, education and other factors.
