SEIU covered staff working in operating rooms will receive an additional $10.00 per hour for all hours worked for a limited time.

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Staff Nurses in the Main Operating Room to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. University of Iowa Health Care's Main Operating Room Includes 32 operating rooms serving adult and pediatric surgical specialties open 24/7. Intra-operative services are divided into six teams staffed by RNs and Surgical Technologists.

Characteristic Duties of our Staff Nurses include but are not limited to :Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illnessAssesses patient health care preferences and expectationsCollaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settingsDevelops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomesImplements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, documents/reports, interventions and patient/family responseCollaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care planDevelops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of careImplements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staffFollows universal precautionsPercent of Time : 60-80%

Schedule:

8 or 10 hr. shifts days or 09-1730 weekends, holidays and call

Salary:

$54,530 (at 90% effort) to commensurate *this does not include inpatient or shift differential

Pay Differentials:

Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Premium pay for additional shifts greater than 4 hours. Inpatient differentials up to $5,000 per year

Education Required

An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is requiredExperience Required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are requiredDemonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactionsGeneral computer skills are requiredCurrent license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hireDesirable Qualifications :

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desiredIf Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirableKnowledge of university policies and procedures
